A new way to keep track of Ticket Stubs for 2014

Happy New Year all!! Getting the New Year off right I decided for this Design Team project to create a frame to keep all ticket stubs from thing I will do in 2014. I used the Frame and Easel file from the Silhouette store and added a tab at the top so that you can just drop your ticket into when you get home. This way I can look at it and think boy I sure have done a lot or I need to do more!! LOL I used Products from Flamingo Scraps Warehouse Sale Box — Combination Box. Which you may or may not get. If you can not find the embelishments in the store make sure you contact Suzanne at Flamingo Scraps to see if she can get it for you. Hope you like my creation as much as I enjoyed making it.

All Partied Out, but my Warehouse Box is Still Half Full!

Good morning, Flock.   I hope this post finds you all recovering nicely from a wonderful Christmas, and ready to rock 2014!

I have a simple layout to share with you today, full of paper and embellishments from my Flamingo Scraps Combination Warehouse Box.  Did you know that these boxes contain paper and embellishments valued at $150 or more AND are currently on sale for $45 EACH?  These medium flat rate boxes are stuffed to the gills and full of all kinds of amazing stuff!

 

I worked with my staple techniques--a bit of misting & dripping on the background paper (all Pink Paislee, Remarkable), inking the edges of some of the papers, a bit of chalk ink on the Pink Paislee Artisan Elements, some fussy cutting, and lots of layering.

 

To top it off, I added a couple of Fancy Pants Cork Shapes and doodled around the border.

Puzzle Piece Magnets Using the Warehouse Boxes

Hello all! Ramona here. Today I am going to share with you some magnets that I made for Christmas Presents. I got these awesome things from Flamingo Scraps in the Flamingo Scraps Warehouse Sale Box — Combination Box, from which you could get this awesome paper... but it is not guaranteed to receive this in your box. I cut these out on my cameo and made them 4 thickness, or you could get the larger puzzles and make them. But they were so fun to create!! Hope you like them as much as I had fun making them.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!

Hi all Flock followers... Ramona here to share a few projects I have been working on for my Flamingo Scraps DT project. I have used the Carta Bella and Lilly Bee Design papers that we had back in July. Which now might be found in the Warehouse Boxes for sale at the store. I had so much fun creating all these projects that would be great to put in stockings or on plates for your dinner guest. The patterns that I have used are some from Treasure Box Designs and Silhouette Store and cut on my Cameo. The patterns for the Mad Hatter ornaments can be found here. I used much of the paper that I had gotten between these and the Christmas book that I made. This paper is just so awesome not to waste one inch of it. Hope you like my projects as much as I loved making them.

I used Webster’s Pages Bloomers Red Sparkle. I also used a metal technique on the small one that I learned from Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 2.

Who would not love this little mug full of Hot Chocolate on Christmas Morning?? I used a Prima Wood icon on the snowflake.

A little tea light on your Christmas Tree??

A present that contains a gift card. I used the new Platium Stickles on this and Love it.

Christmas Fish Bowl Mantle Lantern

Hello fellow Flocksters! It's me, Kathleen, with a new project idea for the holidays. I try to think of simple, quick project ideas that look very detailed, but aren't, since I'm sure that many of you, like myself, have busy lives. It's not easy to fit all those crafty  projects into everyday life while trying to juggle getting kids ready for school, work, homework, being a taxi service, and anything else life has to throw at you. This was pretty simple, once I decided what I wanted to do, and it can be changed for other holidays and events very easily. Personally I thought I was pretty creative on this one! I can't wait for my guests to see him on my mantle for the holidays !

 After I got my shop on at Flamingo Scraps, I headed to our local Dollar Tree for glass vases, a candle holder, and some battery operated tea lights. The marbles are from a previous fish tank, and the gems in the vase with the light are from my Flamingo Scraps Warehouse Grab Box - Embellishments, and I believe they are a mix from Prima and Maya Road. The red trim on the bottom is Maya Road Tu Tu Tulle in cherry red  and the cream colored satin scalloped trim is also from Maya Road. I used the green gingham fabric tape from my warehouse box to cover the side of the tea light, as well as the top of the fish bowl, just below the brass tape along the upper rim. Be sure to check out the other fab trims that will work equally as well from Maya Road and Websters Pages.

Before I put the fish in, I set up the bottom vase with white marbles and green stones, since I knew I was going to use a red fish in keeping with the Christmas colors. I decorated some Prima Christmas wood icons to fill in the front as I thought it looked a bit empty,other than the marbles. Contact Suzanne for those little bits of yumminess, as well as the latest Tim Holtz pens and paints I used to color them with.I pulled some bling from my stash to decorate the tree.  I used ATG tape, 1/4", to adhere the tulle trim, and did two layers of it for a fuller look, then the mini organza cream roses that I dyed green. The ATG allows me to remove the trim at a later date if I want to decorate Mr. Fish III's tank for another holiday. My grandson, who insists on naming my car, refuses to give our fish any other name. Maybe he'll change his name when he sees this one!

. The Cosmo Cricket mini mobile and show toppers are the greatest thing since indoor plumbing! They come in green or white with different style tops. Don't like green or white? Get white and paint it another color. It's just that darned easy. So many little goodies you can hang from them. The pearl drop decor and crystal gems on the bottom are once again from "THE BOX" so click the link!! I'm telling ya, if you haven''t gotten one of these boxes you're really missing out! The pearl and bling trim is from my ever growing stash. I'm pretty sure I'll ordering more of this satin trim. It's pretty awesome.

The adorable little trees are Fancy Pants Tiny Bottle Brush Trees-Traditional and are also available in Retro colors as well. There are six in a pack so you can get more than one project from them

This is my finished project. Mr. 3, as I am now calling him, seems quite happy with his new home. Pretty sure it beats the heck out of that tiny plastic container he was in at the store! Now, if I can just keep him out of reach and sight of the huntress, Lulu, our youngest cat.

Adding color to a sepia photo

Hi Flock Followers! This is Donna with a project that is near and dear to my heart. My grandchildren! Last Christmas I had my three angels photographed together. Living in two states, we coordinated the shoot with outfits that would work together. Our studio of choice did not do the best job, and what I ended up with was the collage of choice, but in a sepia tone. The color version, without the vignette cut off the top of my oldest granddaughter's head when framed. So I set out to make the photo look more "Christmas-y" by adding color with the Carte Bella Winter Fun collection. Purchasing a Warehouse Combo Grab Box from Flamingo Scraps, you may receive these in your box! All the hexes and the chevrons we cut from just one double sided piece of patterned paper and the rocking horse is from the chipboard collection. The hex piece in the upper right corner was a scrap left over from my July guest designer project. This is the finished result.

As I was so focused on the process of making this project, I failed to photograph each step, I am an over thinker when I work on things, but never though about that, so I will add a step by step, listed below. The photo is an 8 x 10, so I used an 11 x 14 photo mat and started with a few hexagons cut out from the patterned paper. This was my preliminary design I started out with. I snapped a quick photo with my phone to remember the placement  as I was gluing them down.

Before I glued them down, I used a Tim Holtz stencil, Honeycomb, as it resembled the shapes of my hexagons. I inked them with Gathered Twigs and Broken China distress inks, over lapping the colors in spots to blend. Next I sprayed the mat with Red Velvet glimmer mist to add some red to the background. I then started gluing the hexagons down. I extended a few of them off the mat and directly onto the photograph, just slipping them underneath to match the half that was on the mat.

Under each individual photo, I used the Prima Wood Icons Sampler, painting them in Broken China and Aged Mahogany distress chalk paints. With a white chalkboard marker I wrote each girl's name and 2012 on the little tag in the upper right corner noting the year taken. A brad added to the tag, from that infamous Warehouse Combo Grab Box is an endless source of goodies to add just the right detail when needed!

Any items used are available from Flamingo Scraps online store, or through Special Order directly from the Flamingo's owner, Suzanne, she goes above and beyond to get exactly what you need, whenever possible, if it's not in the store. I highly recommend a Warehouse Combo Grab Box though, it really is an endless source of just the right touch when you need that little something. A Grown Up Tea Party - Using Marion Smith Mad Tea Party Line

As a young girl, I was never what you would call a "girly-girl". Since there were mostly boys in our neighborhood, not to mention I had two younger brothers, I hung out with them, and could pretty much outdo them in anything. Now that I'm all grown up, I enjoy getting all dressed up and being fussy about things. Sometimes!

 When my dear friend Suzanne, who just happens to be our Fearless Leader of the Flock invited me to the local woman's club tea party, I was ecstatic. Of course, the entire time I was planning what photos I would need to take for my new set of the Mad Tea Party line by Marion Smith. There are so many ways to play with this paper not to mention the Tea Party Stamp Set, now listed in the store, and the Junque & Gems now available for pre-order.

  I love this photo of Suzanne and me. The trims, pleated champagne, and lace, are Websters that came in the Flamingo Scraps Warehouse Grab Box - Embellishments , as did the rose cameo. The beautiful trim of pearls are Maya Road pearl bead chain,in the 6 mm size. There is also an  8 mm size  if you want / need a larger size. The tags of the two ladies came in the paper pack and I'm a little sad that the dress form clips on the tag didn't show up well in this photo, but if you zoom in you can see it. The tiny heart pins around the photo are Maya Road Trinket Pins, Hearts and Pearls. Yes, I had gloves and the best part is that they belonged to my grandmother when she was a young girl.

The invitation for the tea party HAD to be scrapped, since I've never received a "formal" invitation to one before.  I used a paper with the roses for the matting and fussy cut the clock, highlighted the outline and numerals with gold Smooch paint. I  fussy cut the bouquets of roses to use as photo corners, as well as the doily behind the stack of tea cups to slide the journal tag behind. Yea, I  like to fussy cut. The journal tag is from the collection on the tags sheet, and I put a solid paper behind it to write on. If you like chip board elements, be sure to check out the Fab Scraps line. I used a three circle piece (found in the Warehouse Box), lined it with Maya Road small organza roses that I stained, are you ready for it? With TEA! These little beauties come in a variety of colors, and the cream and or white ones take mists very well. For larger blooms and more trims, check out the Websters Pages line for Bloomers, tutu trims and even ruffled Bloomers. The large red heart stick pin is made from items from my stash as is the tiny tea pot above the invitation, where I painted one of the heart trinket pins red. The trim on top, Warehouse box again, coffee dyed with a few dew drops from my stash for a bit of color. Letters are TH grunge.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Hi this is Cheryl. I am sitting here typing while looking out the window. It is a beautiful fall Texas day. Nice and sunny. Not too hot or too cold. Just right for open windows and a nice cool breeze to blow through the house. I made a pot of chilli this morning and it has been simmering on the stove all day. We all need to enjoy these autumn temperatures. Ol' man winter will soon be upon us.  All of our treasured fall decorations will be taken down this month and we will be soon decorating for  Christmas. I love this time of year and I love making my own cards typically in November and scrapbooking my families Christmas memories at a winter retreat in January.

Today for my project for Flamingo Scraps, I thought I would do a Christmas page. I can never have too many premade pages for all of the pictures we take each year. To start off I used a white 12" x 12" base, layered with a 11" x 11" piece of black card stock. I then added a small 6.50" x 10.75" piece of red card stock. I also used a snowflake border punch along two sides of this and added a double photo matt on the bottom that measures 3.25" x 10" and a Heidi Swapp paper frame.

Using ribbon from my stash, I tied a simple knot bow on the bottom of the red card stock and cut two trees from the Fancy Pants Corrugated Paper Collection and adhered these over the ribbon.

 I also added a journaling strip and die cut from the Echo Park Merry Christmas collection. From there I added a few Christmas diecuts and images on the page. Also, I saved the snowflake negative pieces and used these to decorate my trees and added four photo corners to the edges of my base layer. A simple, but sweet Christmas page to add pictures to later.

Playing with Patterns

For today's project I have chosen to create a Heidi Swapp 12 x 12 layout with her Serendipity collection. The photos are of Leila's first birthday, my youngest granddaughter.

There are so many fun patterns in this Collection, I challenged myself to use as many as I could combine. Embellishments are also available in super fun "polaroid" type frames, and other fun photo stacks, with coordinating patterns and epoxy words, "sweet" and "so sweet" are two shown in the photo below, you may find them in your Warehouse Sale - Combination Box!!! I added a binder clip with a small snippet of ribbon from my stash. The cork shaped, adhesive back arrow is from a Fancy Pants assortment pack of sizes and shapes. It has been painted with Tim Holtz Distress Paints, Broken China (available through a special order you can place right here with Suzanne from Flamingo Scraps) and faux stitched with a permanent black marker, and an epoxy sticker glued to the top. Leila's name is die cut letters, painted with the Distress Paint, Picked Raspberry

Below, I used a frame sideways, after cropping out the balloons in her photo, I added heart shaped "balloons" with an assortment of hearts from the Fancy Pants hearts and stars. The cork shapes were first painted with Tim Holtz Distress Paints (Broken China, Mustard Seed, and Picked Raspberry. Remember, to ask Suzanne from Flamingo Scraps to special order just for you!) The paints covered the cork shapes in just one quick coat, faux stitched with a permanent fine line marker, adding an epoxy butterfly sticker to the largest one. 

To keep the frame and the cork stickers the same height, first I carved a little section out of the adhesive foam behind the heart (see photo below) and inserted the end of the painted twine into each heart. On the back of the frame I glued strips of the twine to raise the frame and I tucked the opposite end of the twine underneath to resemble balloon strings. This kept all the elements for this photo at the same height and reduced the bulk on the page.

Her invitation was a perfect match with the papers. I decided to include that also. It was a single card that did not open. I added a piece of the pink paper from the Serendipity paper pack, and fussy cut around it, when closed it does not show. I will journal my thoughts for Leila inside this card.

Mini for Mia, Maci, their Mama and Me

Today I have used the 6 x 6 mini pad from Rondelle by Prima from my Warehouse Box available from Flamingo Scraps Pink Bird Bargain Bin. I have chosen to do a chipboard mini album from Maya Road, also in my Warehouse box. You may or may not receive the exact items, but they boxes are loaded with product and will certainly inspire you to create awesome projects! Here is the cover of the mini. Diamond paper was fussy cut around diamond shapes, Say It In Crystals, black, trimmed and added to surround Cameo Tutu embellishment (more details below for cameo and journal ticket).

I started by painting the bare chipboard album with Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Black Soot (available through Flamingo Scraps, special order by contacting Suzanne)

I found it best to allow the paint to air dry, rather then try to help it along with a heat tool, it produces a smoother and more matte finish. I only painted the outside edges knowing I was covering the inside and outside with patterned paper.

I also painted the outside binding, and wanted to cover the rivets holding the three ring binder. I used TH Spun Sugar to paint the white flower trim. Before adhering the pink flowers, I formed a circle of Webster's Tutu trim on the binding to go under the top flower.

From a piece of vintage sheet music I cut a rectangle frame to surround the binder mechanism, glued it in place and dabbed a little more Black Soot paint to blend it to the inside cover, shown on left. 

The inside pages came next, painting with the TH Distress paints.

Waiting for the paint to dry before adhering the patterned paper to the inside pages, I started working on the embellishments, I used a cameo from my Warehouse Box, dabbing a little Distress Paint on the raised edges to highlight the raised edges, and lightly added some lighter pink to the outer edge. left is untouched. Below is a before and after.

From my stamp stash I embossed a doily stamp on a vintage sheet music page. To mimic the shape of the doily stamp, I stretched the a square stamp into a diamond shape on an acrylic block and embossed this in black also on a piece of the Rondelle paper. (see next photo for comparison)

As you can see, paint was on more than just the detail of the stamp, put it did not transfer to the final image.
(Tip: wash your stamp immediately, it dried very quickly when applied thinly!) This was cut out and added to the pocket on the front cover of the mini album.

Piece of Webster's Tutu trim threaded through center hole on inside page, glued into place on front and back. All tulle was pulled through to the front, leaving a tail to be glued onto the back.

Inside pages of the remainder of the book, awaiting photos and additional embellishments from a recent photo shoot of two of my Granddaughter, my Daughter in Law and myself just before I moved away from them in NY. I just received the proofs via email last night, excited to get them in the mail! All papers were cut to size, corners trimmed by trimming rounded corners using chipboard as template, edges distressed and then glued into place. Tattered Rose ink used to add a little dimension to each page.

All products used have been listed in the description except stamps were taken from my stash.
