Say "Cheese" LO with Maya Road CB Album Cover

Thanks for joining us again Flock followers. As promised, I'm back with a couple of quick and easy layouts using some of the great items that are now trending in the world of scrapping. You can find  these goodies plus much more at Flamingo Scraps flamingoscraps.com . So click on the link when you're finished reading. See how easy I made that for you ?

When I first saw the Maya Road "Say Cheese" CB album I immediately knew I had to have it, and what I wanted to do with it. The question was, which photo should I use it with? It on was answered when my grandson Gabriel saw what I was doing, and said that I should let him have the rest of the album since I was always taking his picture.

I wanted something quick and fun, but not silly. The quote bubble and woman are from the GlitzCashmere Dame Sticker collection. The camera was painted with colors from the new and AWESOMETim Holtz  paints collection. I had the CB elements that came with the album cover for the lens and it looked good, but I wanted something different and unexpected. Then I thought tins ! I found two Maya Road tins, one small and one a bit larger and played around with them. I took the lids off and used those as the lens cover. Still trying to decide which one I like the best.

Red striped washi tape on the top is from the Carta Bella Well Traveled  tape pack and the lace trim is from the Websters Winter Fairy collection. I LOVE that collection, but you'd better grab it quickly because it's flying out the doors!  The tag is from the Pink Paislee Mistable   collection and the bird is from my FS stash (it's Websters). Prima SIIC chevrons are on the bottom trim. Paper is from the Prima Portfolio collection,  so get it while it's there! It's a GREAT collection.

While this LO doesn't necessarily have all of the trending products in it, I just had to share it with you. This is from  the engagement photo session my son and daughter in law had done last year. The heart is Maya Road fabric, BUT you can use a page from the CB album just as well, not to mention it will give more dimension to your project. The trim is MR Tulle Trim Pleat Milk, teal roses are Prima Floret Thyme, tag from the Pink Paislee Mistables collection, and bling swirls are Prima. The center peach rose, silver swirl , heart, and beads, are from my stash, but it's easy enough to cut up some bling and put your own version in the center. Flamingo Scraps has some of the coolest elements that are arriving daily so go see what you can find, you'll be amazed. Click flamingoscraps.com now to see tons of great new trending items, not to mention some classics. You'll be glad you did !

Have a great weekend !!

Prima Mixed Media Doll- Angel Ruby Canvas

I named this Canvas Angel Ruby in honor of my aunt, who passed away six years ago. I will hang it on the wall so she can watch over my mom. So now Aunt Ruby, our angel, will be remembered when we look at the canvas.

This project was very fun and the meaning behind  it made me happy when I created it.  There are so many new and trendy products to create with at  Flamingo Scraps that it's sure to get the creative mojo flowing. The Prima Dolls are the rage right now, along with Tim Holtz Distress Paints.  I LOVE this paint and wish I had gallons of it. I can't say enough about it. It's unlike any paint I've used because it blends so well and is easy to work with.I stamped this girl in black and used clear embossing powder. I wanted her to have patent leather shoes. I  did the same to the rest of the doll so I could get a good outline of her to fussy cut. I  added a few techniques under the pictures of how I achieved the different elements on this canvas.

Background:  I used a Multi Medium Gel and a stencil. After that dried, I finger painted  the Tim Holtz Distress Paint on, then sprayed with water. You can find the whole set here. Tim Holtz Distress Paints Set I used the
Fired Brick, Antique Linen, Picket Fence, Black Soot for the background.
I also used some recycled packaging on the back of the girl.
I created it by embossing it and then painted the back With Distressed Paint Picket Fence. Let it dry then painted the front with Distressed Paint Black Soot. I  used a heat gun to melt the words and dry the paint. I used a sanding block and roughed it up so you could see the white behind it.

Fast and Easy Lay Outs

Have you ever seen so many new and wonderful scrappy yumminess all in one place that you thought your head would explode? Well, that's what you'll find when you visit Flamingo Scraps at flamingoscraps.com ! So take your aspirin, get out the ice pack, and get comfy before you visit the store because you'll be in heaven. All the latest trends and some classic goodies are sure to wow you.

I decided that I had to peek out from behind the scenes as DT coordinator to show off a few of the projects I've come up with in the last week. I did a some quick and easy LOs since I finally found my creative mojo. The hardest part was deciding which of these delish new products I was going to use first !

The first is of my son and daughter in law from their wedding. I used a blue/grey mulberry paper on a piece of black card stock, and topped it with Websters Pages Bloomers in a silvery grey. You can find these in laces/trims or the Big Pink Bird Bargain Bin. There is an assortment pack that has this color in it. It's on sale at 50% off, so get it while it lasts ! Then came the pearl teardrop trim from my FS stash, which I love. I matted the photo on black canvas textured card stock put Prima SIIC clear chevrons on the corners, journaled with my souffle pen, and voila' !

The angel wings are from Maya Road, and I painted them with "Picket Fence" from the new Tim Holtz paint collection. I ADORE these paints ! You can also use them to edges your papers. The word "Beautiful" is also Maya Road, and I dabbed it with assorted colors, Broken China, Seedless Preserves, Weathered Wood , and Picket Fence, from TH collection to resemble the colors in the sky. Not sure I really nailed it, but I like it. Thirty minutes and this project was finished !!

I really liked the Ustream Tonya did  where she layered the tags and  behind the photo and decided to do my take on it. These photos are of my grandson Gabriel, the apple of my eye, and the guy who has me wrapped around his little finger. The words "Whatever, Really, Seriously, and On Schedule" are in his vocabulary on a regular basis, much to my disdain, so this was perfect.

I used papers from the Pink Paislee Portfolio  collection, also on sale and going fast ! This kit has everything you need to create fun and beautiful projects.  The tag above and below the photo on the right is from the Pink Paislee Mistables collection. I cut it in half to extend it, and colored it with Prima Chalk, Teal Damask.

The stars are Maya Road Yellow and Turquoise Star Trinket pins, secured with a dab of Zip Dry. I shortened the pins with wire clippers, inserted between the tags, and covered them with a piece of scrap CS and taped onto the back with AF tape to avoid sharp edges. They fit over the stars on the tags perfectly so it was meant to be.  Prima SIIC chevrons are on the trim. I edged the papers and tags with Prima Chalk, Old Road. The black and white dotted fabric tape is also Maya Road.

Well, that's it for now, but I'm pretty sure I'll be back showing off a few more fast and easy projects I've come up with. Be sure to visit Flamingo Scraps for all the latest and greatest in scrappy goodness.

Sunset Moments

Hello All!
Alicia here to show you a little layout that came about from me simply playing around with new supplies.  Usually, I am one of those scrappers that start with a picture and create a layout, but this time, I started with the idea to create the ombre effect that is  a very popular trend at the moment, using the Heidi Swapp Color Mists on the Eggshell Maya Road Fabric Tape that is available in the Flamingo Scraps store.  Once I got the tape finished and dried, I then had to dig around to find a picture that would work with the idea I had.

Since I was already playing with the Color Mists, I decided to mist and use an ink dropper to create a bit of interest towards the top right corner.  Also I thought that most of the elements that I was going to use as embellishments should also reflect the ombre coloring, including the Prima Camera wood, the Heidi Swapp Mistable tags, the Studio Calico veneer and the Pink Paislee stars. To finish up and fill in some areas that I thought still needed something, I found some coordinating Prima flowers and stamped one of the new Prima Washi Tape stamps a couple of times, and added the word "date" from the Maya Road Instant Photo Frame singleton stamp.

Here is another angle to show the great shine that these sprays really add to the layout and how much fun a little dimension also adds!
Be sure to check out the products used here at flamingoscraps.com as well as many more of the trendy new items that will be sure to add flair to your next project.

Until Next Time!
Alicia

Creating a Flower Cluster Using Prima Embellishemnts

I was digging through a box a pictures at my mom's house and came across one of myself from 1993.  I was 13 years old, and in the 8th grade. I so did not look my age.  My mom took me to this place called Glamor Shots. They did your makeup, hair, dressed you, posed you, and took "glamor" pictures of you.  I still remember all the hairspray they used, but that was the thing to do at the time. I am even sporting the high front wave of hair above my forehead.

I used a Prima mask and molding paste on the background paper, then inked it with Prima Chalk inks and Mr. Huey's Mists. I placed a doily on top (also inked with Prima inks to create a double doily effect.

I love to cluster embellishments - Prima birds nest, Prima Flowers, Prima Pin, Prima Resin, etc.  Layer them on top of each other and tuck some under the larger ones, add some Prima leaves, and Prima pearl swirls and you have a wonderful cluster.

To buy most of these wonderful items please visit Flamingo Scraps.

Embellishments (pin, birds nest, window, leaves) - Prima

Celebrate Good Times, Flamingo Style

Hello Flamingo Fans! Melissa, here, with a fabulous project using all kinds of goodies from the Flamingo Scraps Store! This is a page about my birthday from last year... I figured it would be good to scrap it now, since it will be coming up again in about a month! LOL. Anyway, I had tons of fun with the new Tim Holtz Distress Paints, some great Heidi Swapp products, and some faux InstaGram photos via Photoshop.

As you can see, I layered lots of paints, mists, and embellishments together on this one, and I'm totally in love with it!

That butterfly is one of the hot trends that are out there - veneers are a totally fun embellishment because you can use them as is, or you can color and paint them, like I did here. I loved the hot pink pen I used to color this, but it was a little intense for this page, so I added some white distress paint over the top of it to tone it down.

That cupcake was super fun to create! It's a FabScraps chipboard die cut that I've painted with the Tim Holtz Distress Paints (I used peeled paint, picked raspberry, walnut stain, and Victorian velvet). I sprinkled ultra thick embossing enamel over the brown paint, while it was still wet, and then melted it with my heat gun to give it a little shine and make it look even more delicious, and then used some Stickles to make the sprinkles.

This is a little close up of my favorite photo from the day, taken by my husband, along with a detail shot so you can see the misting, painting, and doodling that went into making this page! That square of paper is from the Heidi Swapp Vintage Chic collection, called Just Dots (I used the B-side).

And one final detail shot on the layers of ribbon and bows! I had tons of fun with Color Shine - probably one of my new favorite misting products. That bow is available in store right now in a Heidi Swapp/Pink Paislee bundle, along with the Sugar Stix and the background paper. That yummy trim is from Websters Pages

So there you have it... a great way to celebrate your birthday - or any birthday - with a scrapbook page, Flamingo Scraps style!

Film Fun

Do you remember my Flamingo Four post last week about my first time playing with an SLR? Well, I decided to make another scrapbook page with more photos from that same day. Gotta love the clothes from the 90's, lol! I started with a fabulous paper from my scrapbook-world-celebrity hero, Teresa Collins. This one is from her Now and Then collection.
Scrapbookista----Flamingo-Four-March-2013---4
I love this tab from the Pink Paislee Secret Crush collection. It adds instant fun! AND, Suzanne from Flamingo Scraps has made up a few Pink Paislee kits that include these rockin' tabs and then she deeply discounted them!
Scrapbookista----Flamingo-Four-March-2013---5
Since this was an LO about fun with a non digital camera (Remember when we actually used film in our cameras?), I thought it would be cool to use a film strip transparency. You know how some trends in scrapbooking are just so fun and you love them so much? Using film strips is that trend for me! And speaking of trends, a few big ones are camera shaped embellishments and wood veneers. I love how Prima has combined those two trends with their Wood Icons in a Box.
Scrapbookista----Flamingo-Four-March-2013---6
These tiny arrows are from the Pink Paislee Artisian Chipboard Elements. BTW, they are part of a Kit over at the Flamingo Scraps online store, AND it's on sale! They come in white, but I misted them with pink to add more color to my LO.
Scrapbookista----Flamingo-Four-March-2013---7
I love these flash cards from Teresa Collins. She always has the best sentiments and the colors on these will go with anything.
Scrapbookista----Flamingo-Four-March-2013---8
This doily was cut from a Pink Paislee Secret Crush paper. Don't forget the Pink Paislee kits are on sale at the Flamingo Scraps online store! These adorable stick pins from Maya Road add a touch of glam.
Scrapbookista----Flamingo-Four-March-2013---9
I cut the pink doily shape in two so I could get more mileage out of it and use it on two places in my LO. I used it here with a circle that I cut out of some Pink Paislee Secret Crush paper and a confetti heart from Pink Paislee.
Scrapbookista----Flamingo-Four-March-2013---10
This fun wooden ruler is just so cute and super trendy, too! The banner shapes are cut from a paper that I had left over from my December Flamingo Four project and a Heidi Swapp Book Keeping paper.
Scrapbookista----Flamingo-Four-March-2013----11
More confetti! It's a super easy way to dress up an LO. I did some inking on the edge of the Pink Paislee Secret Crush heart to add more color to my page.
Scrapbookista----Flamingo-Four-March-2013----12
I love the Teresa Collins paper with all the yummy words! I wanted to add focus to a few words that really fit the page so I drew a box around them!

Best Friends with Teresa Collins Now and Then Collection

For this project  used the Teresa Collins Now and Then Collection for a layout. The picture was taken last summer, when my friend Kathy from high school was home from South Carolina. We do not get to see each other much. But, when she comes home we always get together. I used some of the ephemera and  words from the collection pack . This line is just so much fun to play with. The collection pack offers so many papers you could easily make three layouts or more from it. I did a short tutorial on how I colored the bird which is the same technique that I used for my flowers and the butterfly.   I hope you enjoy this layout and that it inspires you to create with this line. You can get these products at Flamingo Scraps. Shop Flamingo Scraps for all of your scrapbooking needs. If you do not see something in their store please drop Suzanne an email and she will try to order it for you.
