Bling Rings

Bling rings are all the rage right now, and are fun accessories. When I first saw the Brooch Brads for the Parisian Anthology line I immediately thought about making a ring. If you buy two packs, you can make a ring and matching earrings. The bonus is they come in two different colors smoke, and multi-color. Flamingo Scraps still has a large selection of these in the store, but you better get them while supplies last, because Pink Paislee has retired them.

To make your own you need a blank ring, and earring posts. You can pick these up on the internet, and most craft supply stores that sell jewelry findings, some E6000 glue or Glossy Accents, a hot glue gun, your favorite Parisian Anthology Brooch Brads, and wire cutters.



Using your wire cutters, remove the brad prongs from the back of the brooch brad.



Then apply a liberal amount of hot glue to the center of the ring base. This will keep the stones in place until the glassy accents or E6000 glue has time to set.



Then place the ring base in the center of your stones, and apply E6000 or glossy accents around the rim of ring base to completely seal the stone to the base. Allow to dry over night before wearing.



Follow these same simple steps to create a matching pair of earrings.

Scrapbook Jewelry!

When I first saw these I was so excited!! About darn time!! :) 

Even better once I got my hands on it... oh, the possibilities!

At first I thought of how cute it would be around the bottom of a jar or candle... 

Would definitely be great around a larger canning jar... all I had laying around were jelly jars filled with strawberry jam!

But then I had a lightbulb moment and decided it had to be on my niece Abby's baby book!  At first I put it across the front.  So fabulous!

But then the practical side of my brain kicked in as I realized it would certainly get smashed and the album could never sit on the shelf!  So I moved it to the spine of the album.

I have it tied on there for now and once the album is finished, I'll add some hot glue to hold it down the center of the spine.  Isn't it cute and girly?!  I love it!

So as I was playing with this fabulous new scrappy goodie I realized two things.  First, while the flowers are glued to the ribbon, the beads are not!  You can pull them off, space them... so cool!

Second?  The material the flowers are made out of is not paper.  It feels like a stiff fabric... and most definitely will take the mists!  I may just have to get another to try it out!

Scrappy Jewelry à la Marion Smith, Maya Road and Amanda!

 If you watched Marion Smith on her August 5th Live With Prima, you are aware of this trend coming out of Summer CHA ~ Scrappy Jewelry!

Marion made a necklace and a brooch using Prima Marketing's gorgeous Cancan flowers.  Marion's Kit is available for pre-order at Flamingo Scraps!

I got to thinking after watching Marion.  There are a lot of gorgeous things available from Flamingo Scraps that could be used to make jewelry or hair barrettes or whatever else your imagination can imagine.  Here's a few suggestions.........

Either one of these would make a gorgeous brooch for that special friend with eclectic tastes!  Just hot glue a jewelry pin to the back and you're done!  What a great Christmas gift (don't forget we're just coming off Christmas in July!).

How about making hair barrettes from these?

Again, just hot glue plain metal hair barrettes to the back of these blooms and you have three cute and useful hair barrettes.  Or use them to make a necklace like Marion did.

Hello!  I saw these fabulous necklaces (pictured above) a few weeks ago on the Maya Road blog... and of course, had to make my own!  And I was surprised at how quick and easy it was!!  Just grab your Maya Road Chandelier Trinket Beads, follow Jennifer's instructions.... and you will be done in a few minutes.  I just loosely traced my bead onto my paper, cut it out, punched a few butterflies to add to two of my pendants and glued it all together.

Other supplies:  glue, scissors, Martha Stewart Butterfly punch and Basic Grey Urban Prairie patterned paper scraps

The best part is that it really doesn't matter how you cut the paper -- the faceted front is forgiving and you don't have to be very accurate.  I'll be keeping one and giving the other three away as Christmas stocking stuffers!!  Up next, I think I may try some glittery paint!!  It's a great way to use these Chandelier Beads.
