Tim Holtz ASSEMBLAGE CLOCK with Mini Album

Hello friends this months Design Team Project I decided to make myself this Tim Holtz Assemblage Clock with Mini Album. I have made several and decided it was time to make my own. This photo is one of the most special to me. It is the last photo taken of my mother and Father before my father passed away in 1981. Several of the photos in the mini album I matched up about the same age of my mother and father. I also added some with us kids and the only family photo ever taken of all of us. I used the Flamingo Scraps Warehouse Sale Box — Combination Box to create with. I also used several different pieces to create this. I made a space out of chipboard and covered it so I could install an small mini album in the back of some very special photo's for me to remember my Father, Mother and siblings. If there is anything that I used in making this...Please contact Suzanne at Flamingo Scraps and she will be able to special order it for you. Hope you like my creation as much I love having this keepsake.

I must!...I must!...I must! Use my all my crafty stuff.

Happy New Year!

Do you make New Year Resolutions?

I did this year.  I, Luann, resolve to use all my crafty stuff that I have horded.

With that said, I have a mini album and a little wood box that I would like to share with you.  I have wanted to embellish this wood box for over three years.  My inspiration was my aunt who dearly loves hot tea, roses, and her birthday this month.  Flamingo Scraps carries the Marion Smith's paper lines Nirvana and Mad Tea Party and match made in Wonderland was made.

First, I gave the box a coat of gesso.  Then painted with a rose chrome metallic paint.  To give the some depth I used Ranger Gold Acryilic Paint and dabbed it on with a piece of towel. I cut the paper to fit by using the box as the guide.  I used Mod-Podge to glue the paper and let it dry over night.  I then gave the paper a top coat of Mod Podge and let it dry for a couple of hours.  I did use Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Vintage Photo and Vintage Jeans to finish the edges.

I used Prima roses, fussie cut a picture from Graphic 45 Ladies Diary paper line and the corset stamp on the Nirvana paper.  I sprayed the blue rose with Heidi Swapp Teal Color Shine for a pop of color.  I just love the way it turned out!

Now the what to in this little box?   I could put in some Rolo's candy (my aunt was telling me about a Rolo Cheesecake she is going to make for her birthday). However,  I went with the orginal idea - mini

It is a mini 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" .  I used the cardboard I saved from my new 2014 calendar for the center.  I cut the Nirvana and Mad Tea Party papers to size and glued to the cardboard. The edges were distressed with my Prima distresser and inked with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  I had a Prima Treasures window that just fit. I found a cameo in my stash.  Don't you think it looks like the girl is looking out the window? The clock charm is from my stash.  I'm going embellish the other pages after I find the photo's I want to use.  I'll give you a look when I'm done.

Let's see!  I did keep to my resolution. I used a few things that I had for a time.  I did use some new papers, Marion Smith, which I love.

If you can't find some of the goodies in the Flamingo Scraps Shop that I used, drop Suzanne a e-mail.  She is awesome locating items for her customers.

Here's to keeping your resolutions and a fantastic 2014!

Until next time.

A new way to keep track of Ticket Stubs for 2014

Happy New Year all!! Getting the New Year off right I decided for this Design Team project to create a frame to keep all ticket stubs from thing I will do in 2014. Once Upon A Springtime - Cigar Box

I guess you could say I've been on a Fairy kick lately.  Graphic 45's Once Upon A Springtime is one of my all time favorite paper collections.   I have been wanting to alter a cigar box with it for a long time now.   This past weekend I finally had the chance.

From Flamingo Scraps: Graphic 45: Once Upon A Spring Time: Pixie Post and Once Upon A Spring Time, Ranger: Claudine Hellmuth Matt Multi-Medium and Forest Moss Distress Stain, Prima: Rose buds, Mini Roses and Trellus Roses; Tattered Angels:  Gold Glimmer Mist, Mist Fits Glimmer Chalks. Other:  Floral Vine, Gelly Roll Clear Star Pen.

The base of the box was painted with the Ranger Forest Moss Stain then I sprayed Gold Glimmer Mist on top so that it has a nice shine to it.  I cut out the book and Fairies from the paper collection and flanked it with some Roses from Prima. Then I fussy Cut Fairies and birds from the paper collection and nestled them into the floral spray.

I love the way this box turned out, and I hope that my friend likes it too.

Thanks for stopping in today,

Chust for Pretty -- Spring Jubilee Mini Album!!!

I have this long ago memory, I think from a juvenile book set in the Amish Country of Pennsylvania, of the reason hex signs are painted on many Pennsylvania Dutch barns.  Queried about the symbolism of the hex signs -- were they to ward off evil spirits?  did they have religious significance?  were they some kind of special code? -- an Amish farmer replied in his thick German accent -- they are "Chust for Pretty!"  That really had an impact on me -- an object doesn't have to have deep symbolic meaning to justify its creation -- being pretty is enough.

This is my new mantra for crafting!  I shall no longer put off creating things until I have a reason or someone to give it to.  It makes me happy to craft so, I give myself permission to do it "Chust for Pretty."  And my first project is this Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee mini album.

Pink Paislee was spot on with its collections released at Winter 2012 CHA.  Sugar Chic and Spring Jubilee are easily among my FAVORITE collections ever!!!  Having quenched my desire for Sugar Chic with a little purse mini, I turned my attention to the gorgeous color palette, patterns, and embellishments of Spring Jubilee!  I started with a Maya Road acrylic album --

Distress Pens

So I finally got a chance to play with my Distress Markers from Tim Holtz that I purchased from Flamingo Scraps as a pre-order.

These markers are so much fun, they have a watercolor quality - but react a little different than water colors since the colors replace each other rather than contaminate.

The flower on this card is a Prima stamp that I colored with the TH markers on the Ranger stamping paper. Coloring took some getting used to, but I like how the design looks like I colored it with my Copic markers.

I decided to use the image on a card.

From Flamingo Scraps: Ranger: Tim Holtz Distress Markers, Ornamental Die, Distress inks: Tea Dye; Prima: Rose Stamp, Antques Stamp, packaging (So Happy banner); Graphic 45: Bottle Stamps; Webster's Pages: Trims, Misc. Laces; Pink Paislee Packaging, Frame stamp - Soree, Stampendous: Frantage - Shabby Blue.
Other: Tonic Punch: dotted scallop, Cherry Lynn Designs: Doily Die, Studio G: Stamp "Delight in the Little Things", Spellbinders: Label 5, My Mind's Eye: Tea Pot stamp.

I used the packaging from a Pink Paislee stamp set as the background, I also used packaging from the Rose Prima stamp set for the banner that says "So happy". I love upcycling the packaging when I can.

The bottle is from Graphic 45's new stamp Curosity Shoppe Perfume Bottles. I stamped it with Archival Ink on transparency, then warped it with my heat gun to make it look dimensional.

The tea pot was a My Mind's Eye stamp that was embossed with the new Frantage Embossing Enamel, and the cup was actually another stamped image from the tea pot, but I cut it down to make it into a cup.

To create the sign behind the vase I layered a Prima Printery stamp for the words and the Frame from a Pink Paislee - Soree stamp set.

The clock was cut from a piece of scrap paper on my desk. The table cloth was a punch scrap.

Then I added Lace and Trims to the bottom, and stamp that says "Delight in the little things" as the sentiment.

I hope you enjoy this card share today,

Christmas Cards

I thought I would share with you a card that I created using Graphic 45's Christmas Emporium, and Spellbinder's Poinsettia die.

I rounded the corners of the wreath patterned paper from the collection, and sewed around the edges for a clean looking backdrop. The Santa Clause photo was a panel on the paper and I thought the stamp was a nice touch. The stamp is from Studio G.

I have a YouTube video on how I made the Poinsettias. To me they look so realistic.

I love making Holiday cards for those extra special gifts.

Thanks for stoppping in today.

Steampunk Mini Album

One of my dear friends, Amy Rodriguez, designs unique mini album dies and has shared her Hot Air Balloon and Dress Form Dies with me. I was so excited to get the opportunity to play with these dies. I wanted to share with you guys today the mini that I created.

From day one I knew I would use the Steampunk Debutant Line from Graphic 45 that I got from Flamingo on this mini. I wanted it to be tiered so that behind every dressform there was a hot air balloon. I also wanted the pages to be vibrant, elegant, but most of all interactive!

Here is a video with a complete walk through of the concepts and details on each page.

Thanks for stoping by today,
