Page Maps Challenge -- Merry and Bright

For this sketch in the Page Maps Challenge, I did something unusual for me -- I actually altered it to have fewer embellishments!  I decided that the GORGEOUS NOEL paper and ribbon from Teresa Collins spoke for themselves and highlighted these precious pictures of my adorable 14 year old puppy, Bella.  She looks a little sheepish and bored with her Christmas attire -- believe me, the hat stayed on just long enough for me to snap these quick shots!  The journaling reads "I can't believe she made me do this!"

The things we do to our pets during the holidays!  Nevermind -- I smile everytime I see these photos of Bella!

Amanda has a new niece!!!  Abigail Pauline Fleming was born Tuesday morning, weighing 8 pounds, 21 inches long.  She has a full head of hair and is just as adorable as her big brother Creighton.

We have all so loved seeing the gorgeous layouts Amanda has done of her nephew Creighton and we have seen parts of Abby's baby book.  We can't wait to see what fabulous girlie projects Amanda comes up with for Abby.  CONGRATULATIONS  Auntie Amanda!!!

Guest DT Janet Zeppa: Calendar Layout

I make my parents a calendar every year for Christmas and this is one of the pages. It's a layout of my sister and her DH.  It is a simple page without alot of dimension because my parents always tease that they will have to get a longer nail to hang up the calendar if I don't stop with the bulky embellishments! LOL!!

Weekend Whimsy: Christmas Traditions and Memories

My mother calls me the keeper of traditions in our family and I love that role!  Especially at Christmas!  This year I got this ornament display tree and was able to showcase all the ornaments I have collected over the last 35 or so years!   Nearly every ornament on my tree marks an occasion, or a trip, or was given to me by friends or family, and every year when I get them out the house is flooded with wonderful memories!  I also decorate with several items that are traditions I carry on from my grandmother!

My ornament display tree!

An ornament from 1979 I got when I was volunteering
at the Robert Mills House during grad school

The ornament marking my first Christmas in my present home on "Carr" Street

A voodoo doll I got while at a conference in New Orleans

The ornament marking the year I became a Master Gardener

Florida ornament that has been on trees in NC, SC, and NJ!

String of chili peppers I picked up while working in Taos, NM

Carrying on a tradition of my Granny's -- ribbon candy in her Christmas Tree jar

One of my most treasured possessions, a handmade angel that
graced my grandmother's mantel for as long as I can remember
Scrappers and paper crafters tend to be keepers of traditions and memories -- what are some of the special holiday traditions you keep for your families???  Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a very Happy New Year!

Canal Street in Hollywood Vogue

I took advantage of this terrific sketch for the Page Maps Challenge to showcase some precious vintage photos of my mother using Webster's Pages Hollywood Vogue!  The Hollywood Vogue collection is simply fabulous -- great colors and patterns, and fabulous embellies!!  I am a backside of Webster's Pages kind of girl and the "backsides" were perfect for this layout as the multiphoto sketch covers so much of the patterned paper!

Other supplies -- thickers and miscellaneous ribbons, bazzill cardstock

This sophisticated collection was just made for vintage and "glamour" shot photos.  Give it a try!!!

Guest DT Tiffany Morgan: No Sentiment Christmas Card

I'm so excited to be sharing again. Today I am going to share a card with no sentiment. The card is standard size. I sometimes have a hard time finding the perfect sentiment for a card so most of them go without. I think Websters Pages caters perfectly to cards and projects. The papers are so beautiful. For my card I used the Waiting for Santa papers. I used a few different papers from the line and I used the 6x6 papers. I did some fussy cutting and cut out the fabulous dress form. I used a bloomer and some other flowers. I also used some liquid pearls. I used some lace I had in my stash and the ribbon is some of the fabulous cheap trims. The butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch. I hope you guys enjoy and I hope that this inspires you to create.

Flamingo Five: Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co.

Welcome to our this month's Flamingo Five! Five items... lots of creative points of view!! Miss our other installments? Check them out here. Shall we get started with our festive Christmas edition?!

December's Flamingo Five items are:
1 and 2.  Two sheets pf Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co. patterned paper
3. Garnet elines
4. Gunmetal stickles
5. Grab bag with blue primas, red primas, blue lace and a Maya Road Star stickpin

All items available at Flamingo Scraps (limited quantities on hand!). We all started with these supplies and the instructions to make something using all five items. Any other items could be added to complete the project.

Are you ready to see what we made?!

Janet's take:
From Flamingo Scraps: Flamingo Five items
Other Supplies: Making Memories Vintage findings; Teresa Collins Blingage; Ribbon from Savvy n Sassy; Prima Pebbles

I LOVE Pink Paislee paper and I thought I would like to use it some other way than just a layout. So why not a pretty holiday decor item?  I had this 7 Gypsies Printer Tray that I thought would do just the trick. I got busy and cut up the paper and journal cards and even the beautiful lace and decorated the tray and I think it will be a wonderful addition to my Christmas decorations this year!

By using the Stickles, a piece of transparency and a Bazzill template I was able to create my own flourishes too. Just let the stickles dry and cut it out.

And here are some close ups!

Amanda's take:
From Flamingo Scraps: Flamingo Five items

I made this tag to put in my December Daily album.  My niece Abigail, unlike her brother, is hanging out until her due date next week... so I definitely expect her to be my favorite "Christmas gift" this year! :)  The flower looks really black in the picture but it's really a deep red color in person!  You can see a little better in this photo:

I can't wait to add it to my December Daily album next week!

Suzanne's take:
From Flamingo Scraps: Flamingo Five items
Other supplies: Spellbinders die; Tim Holtz rosette die; Sizzix dove die; tassle

It is amazing what you can do with just two pieces of paper and a few fabulous embellishments!  This banner was made with a Maya Road Frayed Canvas Banner Album as the base, the paper from Flamingo Five was trimmed into six triangles and adhered to the canvas, left over paper was cut with Spellbinders scalloped circle dies, a dove sizzix die and Tim Holtz rosette sizzix die.  The letters are Tim Holtz Grunge Alphas sprayed with regular black spray paint.  Gunmetal stickles, Garnet E-line bling, Prima Flowers, Fancy Pants lace and Maya Road Star stickpin from Flamingo Five grab bag and a miscellaneous tassle complete the banner which is strung on grosgrain ribbon.  It is now hanging on my mantle!!!!

So here we are at the end of our fourth Flamingo Five and we hope you enjoyed it! Please come back and join us on the 15th of next month to see what we made with a new batch of five goodies from Flamingo Scraps! We hope that we have inspired you and we'd love to see what you make if you do, so please stop by and share it with us!
