Flamingo Five: Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co.

Welcome to our this month's Flamingo Five! Five items... lots of creative points of view!! Miss our other installments? Check them out here. Shall we get started with our festive Christmas edition?!

December's Flamingo Five items are:
1 and 2.  Two sheets pf Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co. patterned paper
3. Garnet elines
4. Gunmetal stickles
5. Grab bag with blue primas, red primas, blue lace and a Maya Road Star stickpin

All items available at Flamingo Scraps (limited quantities on hand!). We all started with these supplies and the instructions to make something using all five items. Any other items could be added to complete the project.

Are you ready to see what we made?!

Janet's take:

Other Supplies: Making Memories Vintage findings; Teresa Collins Blingage; Ribbon from Savvy n Sassy; Prima Pebbles

I LOVE Pink Paislee paper and I thought I would like to use it some other way than just a layout. So why not a pretty holiday decor item?  I had this 7 Gypsies Printer Tray that I thought would do just the trick. I got busy and cut up the paper and journal cards and even the beautiful lace and decorated the tray and I think it will be a wonderful addition to my Christmas decorations this year!

By using the Stickles, a piece of transparency and a Bazzill template I was able to create my own flourishes too. Just let the stickles dry and cut it out.

I made this tag to put in my December Daily album.  My niece Abigail, unlike her brother, is hanging out until her due date next week... so I definitely expect her to be my favorite "Christmas gift" this year! :)  The flower looks really black in the picture but it's really a deep red color in person!  You can see a little better in this photo:

I can't wait to add it to my December Daily album next week!

Suzanne's take:
From Flamingo Scraps: Flamingo Five items
Other supplies: Spellbinders die; Tim Holtz rosette die; Sizzix dove die; tassle

It is amazing what you can do with just two pieces of paper and a few fabulous embellishments!  This banner was made with a Maya Road Frayed Canvas Banner Album as the base, the paper from Flamingo Five was trimmed into six triangles and adhered to the canvas, left over paper was cut with Spellbinders scalloped circle dies, a dove sizzix die and Tim Holtz rosette sizzix die.  The letters are Tim Holtz Grunge Alphas sprayed with regular black spray paint.  Gunmetal stickles, Garnet E-line bling, Prima Flowers, Fancy Pants lace and Maya Road Star stickpin from Flamingo Five grab bag and a miscellaneous tassle complete the banner which is strung on grosgrain ribbon.  It is now hanging on my mantle!!!!

So here we are at the end of our fourth Flamingo Five and we hope you enjoyed it! Please come back and join us on the 15th of next month to see what we made with a new batch of five goodies from Flamingo Scraps! We hope that we have inspired you and we'd love to see what you make if you do, so please stop by and share it with us!

New Fancy Pants Designs Spring Collections

Flamingo Scraps has two, brand spankin' new, collections from Fancy Pants Designs!  These collections have just been released this month.

The first collection is Like Father Like Son.  Designed by Michelle Coleman, this collection is the perfect blend of masculine and playful for scrapping both the men and boys in your life.  Wouldn't this be perfect for a Father/Son Layout?

The second collection is Wishful Thinking designed by Heidi Larsen.  Wishful Thinking is a lovely feminine collection full of delicate designs and fresh Spring colors!  How about a Mother's Day or Dance Recital Layout using these papers?

These papers are 12x12, double-sided, 65# heavyweight cardstock and of course are acid/lignin free.  Flamingo Scraps has 10 different papers in each collection as well as a Die Cut Sticker sheet for each.  Sample Layouts courtesy of the Fancy Pants Design Team.

We hope you love these papers as much as we do!  Keep checking back for blogs on projects and layouts we've done with these luscious papers.

 Happy Scrapping!

More Banners

I am loving the banner trend right now in scrapbooking.  It really gives your page such a fun little pop.  And, banners, unlike flowers, are not as gender specific.  Which, for me, having a teen age boy is always a big plus.

For this layout of my son, I used the Maya Road chipboard banner pieces which I had spritzed with a bit of Red Metallic Maya Mist (so much easier and neater than painting).  I also used Pink Paislee 365 Degrees papers and some of the Glitter Chipboard alphabets.  The flowers (yeah, I know, I just said gender specific) are made from spirals of different scraps of papers.  And the circle shape makes them a little more masculine I think.  I also spritzed the kraft cardstock with a bit of blue mist to tie the whole thing together.

Hope you are having a banner day.  hee hee

Hugs.

Wanna win?!

Have you seen the Spring Challenge Blog Hop on Sketchy Thursdays this week?!  Well.... Flamingo Scraps is sponsoring not one, but TWO fabulous scrappy prize packs for the challenge!!  I took one look at the sketch and knew it was perfect for a layout I've been brainstorming for a few weeks.  Banners seem to be all the rage right now.  Now me?  I just do not have a place to put one in my house at the moment, so I knew that if I wanted to do a banner it would be a mini one on a layout!  At some point I decided it wouldn't be a banner so much as a clothesline.... add the sketch and this was the result!

From Flamingo Scraps: pink paislee 365 degrees collection patterned paper, ranger glossy accents (to glue down the clothesline!)
Other supplies: making memories mini alphas, american crafts thickers, ecru embroidery thread, date stamp
Color photo taken by Jen Skibo, Passion for Life Photography

Hands down, one of my favorite layouts I've created to date!  Maybe it has something to do with the super gorgeous picture my cousin Jen took (Thanks Jen! Check out her other gorgeous pictures here).... or the happy colors from the pink paislee 365 collection.... or the sketch.... but I ♥ this layout.    I sketched out the shirt and pants on a piece of scrap paper, cut them out and used them as a template.  I had a pen boo-boo on the cute journaling die cut from the set and had to get creative.  I used it as a template to cut another out of a scrap of red patterned paper, glued it down on the die cut to give it a layered look.  Then added a circle cut from a scrap of light blue patterned paper that I distressed.

So hurry on over to Sketchy Thursdays to play along using this fabulous sketch!!

You have until Sunday, April 18th at midnight (EST) to link your entry.  Two randomly drawn participants will win some fabulous scrappy goodness from the big pink bird!!  Good luck!! :)

BAYBERRY BANNER!!!!

A couple of weeks ago, Flamingo Scraps helped host a fabulous weekend scrap retreat and I was actually able to get some scrapping done!!!  Along with some layouts, I made this fun banner using a Maya Road Canvas Album and some of the gorgeous Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage.  Inspired by Nancy's beautiful anniversary banner and, of course, by my new best scrapping companion, Lisa Pace's Delight in the Details, I began to play!

The Maya Road Canvas Triangle Album is great as an album, but I took it apart and used a page for each letter.    In addition to the Bayberry Cottage paper, I used the coordinating Flip Notes, Prima Essentials Flowers, Stickles, Fancy Pants trim and mini ric rac, Flamingo Scraps pom pom trim, punches, brads, Prima Flower Centers, misc. chipboard letters, inks, Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Picket Fence, Maya Mists, and stitching (yes, I took my sewing machine to the crop!).  I made a triangular template a little smaller all round than the pages to preserve the rustic feel of the frayed and stitched canvas edges.
I don't know when I have loved a collection as much as I adore this Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage!!  A wonderful surprise was how well the Prima Rebellious Essentials coordinated with the papers.  And the Flip Notes are definitely not just for journaling -- I pop taped these for dimension!!  The chipboard letters are inked in lime and blue, inked the edges in black for a pop against the papers, and misted them with Iridescent Pearl Maya Mist.  A little bling, stickles, Flamingo Scraps rick rack (a perfect blue and available soon in the store), some great Fancy Pants green lace, a little machine stitching,  and I was on to the next piece!
More of the Flip Notes, black pompom trim, grab bag lace, rick rack, and some decorative brads make up this section.  The "R" was inked in rhubarb, then topped with Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Picket Fence!

The last piece has a punched paper border, some contrasting bling, and a Prima Artistry Blossom inked in Prussian Blue!
Easy as pie, I threaded grosgrain ribbon through the grommets in the album pages and Flamingo Scraps has a jazzy new addition to our scrap studio!!

Thanks for Looking!

Banners

I don't know if you have noticed, but banners are huge this season.  Banners as home decor, banners printed onto patterned paper and small banners added to layouts.

With my anniversary coming next week, I thought it might be fun to make a banner to celebrate.

Products used from Flamingo Scraps, Prima:  Raspberry Tea patterned flowers and glitter cardstock stickers.  Flights of Fancy patterned flowers.  Maya Road:   Deborah chipboard, trinket pins (leaf and pink flowers), chandelier beads. Ranger Industries:  Diamond Stickles

Using a banner kit from Maya Road, I cut the back side of some Pink Paislee papers into the triangle shape.  I added some mint green cardstock to the back and then cut with my scalloped scissors, bits of a border sticker from Prima topped the base of my flag.

Then on to the embellishing.  Lovely Prima blooms and some fun page pebbles filled the flag.  I used the Deborah chipboard and some glass glitter for the sentiment.

And finally, beautiful Maya Road stick pins and chandelier beads.  A bit of Diamond Stickles and  I was ready to piece it all together.

I added a couple of my favorite photos of my dh and I together, mounted on the same mint green cardstock, strung it all together with some lace and voila.

I hope you like it.

Hugs.

A Little Contest

My box of yummy new goodies came this week, and like a lot of you, I couldn't wait to find the time to play.  So many fun, new goodies.  The mojo was strong and I so wanted to use everything in my box.  So I created these.....

This one is from a page maps sketch.

And now for the contest.

With these two layouts (3 pages) I used a total of  21 different products that are (were recently, stuff is moving fast) available in the Flamingo Scraps store.

If I used the same item on both pages, it only counts once.  Stickers from the same sheet would also, only count once.  Remember that we also carry mists and it is possible that I have colored an item or two. (hint, hint)

To give you a bit of a start, and because I know two of the items are sold out.....

1.  Prima Pastiche Paper in Vintage Garden
2.  Stickles, Platinum.

So, the first person who replies to this post with the other 19 items, either on Facebook or on the blog, will be the winner of a prize from Flamingo Scraps. (sorry, US residents only)  Deadline for entries is March 15, if at that time we do not have anyone with all 21 items, we will find the person who came the closest.

Good Luck!!!!!

Hugs,

Nancy

Day 2 at CHA

Hello again from CHA.  Another fun filled exciting day is just about over, and boy was it a full one.  I woke at 5:09 a.m. almost 1/2 hour before the alarm was set to go off.  Don't you just hate that?  Well, laid in bed till I had to get moving for my 7:00 a.m. class.  And it was FABULOUS!  You R 2 Tweet was given by  Lisa Pace   with lots of fun goodies from Maya Road, Jenni Bowlin, Ranger and Duncan Enterprises.

Can you believe all that was in the bag?  And, I  soooo needed that coffee.

In the class we learned to make some gorgeous flowers, a quick and easy way to cover chipboard and then add a scalloped border.  And then.  Is this not, the cutest banner you have ever seen?

And did I mention that I got a copy of Lisa's gorgeous book?  I guess if you have to be up and out early in the morning, this is great reason.  And I promise, when things get back to normal to show you some of the amazing things I learned.
After my class I went to stand in the line to get into the showroom.  Tim Holtz and Sizzix were having a giveaway for the first 100 people.

And we got these....

So can not wait to get home and try it.  Did I tell you how much I love Prima?

After running so quickly to get the die, we had to think of our gameplan.  Luckily for us, there was a Prima make and take going on.  Gorgeous.

While we were waiting to make the gorgeous tag, I decided to become queen of the Primas.

After a bit more wandering around, I went over to the Making Memories booth, where I got to sit on a pink Vespa.  Just like the one I have been trying to get my husband  to buy me for the last couple of years.  Think this picture might be enough to push him over the edge?

This display is part of a huge promotion for the new "Hands Free Slice."  So fun to use, and you don't need a new machine, it is a casing for the machine you already have!  How cool is that?  Of course, if you want a new machine...well...that is up to you.

Of course, back to Prima for more goodies.

And more Prima goodness...

Seriously, you could live in the Prima booth.  So many beautiful products, such great inspiration.  Everyone so super nice.

So, what is new this year?  What am I seeing everywhere?

Jewelery.  Lots of Fun, Funky jewelery.  These are just a few of the projects that were available today.

Oh, and how about a Cricut machine that you can use to cut fondant and gum paste for cakes.  You will probably want to get a separate machine.  Something food safe and all.  But imagine the fun using all your cartridges to decorate cake goodies.

Well, that is about it for me tonight.  Another crazy busy day placing orders and taking classes tomorrow.  And I need my beauty sleep.

Hugs.
