All Partied Out, but my Warehouse Box is Still Half Full!

Good morning, Flock.   I hope this post finds you all recovering nicely from a wonderful Christmas, and ready to rock 2014!

I have a simple layout to share with you today, full of paper and embellishments from my Flamingo Scraps Combination Warehouse Box.  Did you know that these boxes contain paper and embellishments valued at $150 or more AND are currently on sale for $45 EACH?  These medium flat rate boxes are stuffed to the gills and full of all kinds of amazing stuff!

 

I worked with my staple techniques--a bit of misting & dripping on the background paper (all Pink Paislee, Remarkable), inking the edges of some of the papers, a bit of chalk ink on the Pink Paislee Artisan Elements, some fussy cutting, and lots of layering.

 

To top it off, I added a couple of Fancy Pants Cork Shapes and doodled around the border.

Fun uses of wood - Life is Good - layout

My sweet son Morgan started off 2rd grade two weeks late and at a completely new school (as we just moved).  He started off a bit rough, but he is now loving his new school, has great friends, and never even asks about his old school or house any more. Doesn't this kid take great pictures? I know I am a bit biased as his mom. Hehe.

I used the wonderful kit Hey Kid from Pink Paislee for the stickers and patterned paper, plus some other fun little bits and bobs. I used lots of ink and mists from Prima and Heidi Swapp to create the ring marks, spots, splatters, and sprays.  It just gives your layout such great dimension by adding in some great texture. 

Don't you just love this Fancy Pants wood title - it works with so many projects!!  I even took a Prima dot stamp with some Prima ink in light brown to give it texture.  I also used other little bits of wood items (stars and arrows) from Cosmo Cricket.  Plus you can see a little of the Corrugate paper from Fancy pants in grey peaking out!

My Little Love

Hi, Flock, Genie here, today!
I recently received part of a Hey Kid kre8v Kit by Pink Paislee.  It is so much fun!  There are so many cute pieces, and the patterns are so bright and trendy.  It's perfect for my little girls!
I chose a photo of my littlest imp; it's one of my favorites because it just captured her 2-year-old self perfectly.  She's sweet and sassy, and the mischevious little grin says it all.  A complete list of supplies can be found at the end of the post.

I wanted a neutral base because the colors and patterns were so bright, but white, black, and kraft didn't seem right.  I finally found this bluish-grey, and I think it's perfect.  I fussy-cut along a line of circles in one of the sheets of patterned paper and layered cardstock stickers, another fussy-cut border, and some transparent arrow stickers over that.  I didn't like the unrelieved grey, so I splattered a big of gesso on the left of the page.  I love how gesso dries; it's solid white, like paint, but it maintains some dimension.
On the top left, I used more cardstock stickers, one of the cute chipboard pieces, and a cardstock speech bubble.  I wanted a bit more dimension, so I added some stars and arrows from the Wood Charms by Cosmo Cricket and the Cork Shapes (Hearts & Stars, Arrows) by Fancy Pants.

Product Review: Pink Paislee Hey Kid kre8v Kit

Melissa, here! I recently received the Pink Paislee Hey Kid kre8v Kit from the Flamingo Scraps Store! Let me say, I was super impressed with everything that came in it! With 12 – 12×12 sheets patterned paper, 334 stickers, and 27 pieces of chipboard, all for $13.99, you are getting a mighty bang for your buck!

The patterns in the kit are super cute, too, and work well for any gender, which makes me happy, since I have two boys and finding stuff that really fits their personalities can be tough! There are lots of fun bits and pieces, to boot, with fun glasses chipboard stickers, mustaches, and great colors to work with, as well! The papers are all single-sided, which I actually prefer for these patterns because I like them all and wouldn't want to choose between an A-side or a B-side!

Everything was the high quality I come to expect from Pink Paislee, and they are one of my favorite paper manufacturers, so my opinion may be a little biased; however, if I was disappointed in any portion of the kre8v Kit, I would definitely say so! There's a great selection of alphabets, a great selection of embellishments, and a great selection of papers, so there's no room left for me to complain! For $13.99, you're getting quite a bargain and will be able to create multiple projects without a problem.

Happy Birthday Layout

There were tears, laughter, cake smashing, and good times for all at Catherine's first birthday Party.  We held her party a couple of weeks early so grandparents could come. Unfortunately, with daddy working away from home now, there was not good weekend for him to be able to be there. So, we had a second party for her with just daddy, Cat, Morgan, and me.  

The journaling reads "Laughing, crying, messy frosting face.....all the joys of delving in face first getting frosting everywhere as you devour your smash cake for your first birthday. Grandma Elaine went all out decorating and preparing for your party. Grandma Marty, Erin, Madison, and your brothers were all there.  Aug 2013".  Grandpa Ray and Mommy were there, too. :) She definitely had the series of emotions going on that day.

I have TONS of Pink Paislee bits and pieces in my stash - it's probably one of my favorite manufacturers out there, and it really shows because of how often their products are used in my pages!

Today, I have a special weekend edition to share with you the Flamingo Scraps Warehouse Grab Box, because we just can't get enough of it and, if you haven't ordered one already, I'm hoping to convince you today. If you haven't heard it already, there are three different versions of the box to tickle your fancy: the paper, the embellishments, and the combination! Of course, what you get in your box will vary from what I received in mine, but it is chocked full of scrappy goodness, no matter what!

And here's the latest project I came up with that uses the box:

You might recognize this as the Pink Paislee Declaration collection, that I have used on a previous page, way back with my very first Flamingo Scraps post! That time, I used it in its traditional, or themed, sense, with a page about the 4th of July. Today, however, I changed that up and used it on a page about the "Great American Past Time" and scrapped my oldest son's Little League pictures. I really liked the red, white, and blue to convey this "Great American Past Time" feel, and kept the design and layers to a minimum so that the focus was on the pictures. Not only did I use the papers from this line, but also the sticker sheet and alphas that you might see in any of the boxes! Along with the Declaration Line, I used some Fancy Pants Cork Shapes in Heart and Stars to add some dimension to a relatively flat page. I also cut a little baseball with my Silhouette to back his baseball card with his batter facts and positions played that's paper clipped under the team photo. Add a little butcher's twine and small alpha stickers from my stash, and this page was ready to use. You might also notice that I left the background as-is on this page, rather than customizing it like I typically do. This background really didn't need anything else added to it, to be honest! I really tried to find something!

I was so excited to get this great Sizzix Garden Fairy collection of dies and stamps -- I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them in the CHA2013Winter release!

From Garden Fairies to Christmas Fairies and Angels and figures of all kinds, I knew I would find so many uses for these items!!  My favorite project so far is this Peppermint Fairy I made with the Flamingo Scraps Christmas in July Brights Kit, some of which you may be able to find in the Flamingo Scraps Giant Warehouse Box!

I cut two of each body piece from a neutral pattern from the kit and cut one of each piece from chipboard.  I used my Xyron X and 500 sticker makers to sandwich the chipboard between the two pieces of paper, inked the edges, and assembled the body with small brads.  The base of the skirt is diecut with the docraft Doily Die and covered in layers of Maya Road TuTu Tulle and Pleated Tulle and Webster's Pages tulle and feather trims.  The wings are made of a misc feather butterfly and the waist and neckline are highlighted with tiny strips of pink and clear bling.

I have wanted to make something using some of the really wonderful vintage pics I have of my family.  So inspired by Pinterest in particular, I enlarged a picture of my Grandmother Emma, printed it on regular copy paper, cut out the face and adhered it to the chipboard.  A wreath of tiny paper roses completed my fairy!  Well, almost -- I added a banner made from some leftovers from my Tonya LIVE!!! City Sidewalks kit from last fall -- see, we promise you will use everything in Tonya's kits!!!

Warehouse box, texture, and baby...Oh my!

Hello, Flock!  Genie here today, with my first official Design Team post.  Squee!!!

When my warehouse box arrived, these Pink Paislee Portfolio papers and embellishments begged me to use them to scrap this photo I had just received of my cousin's new baby boy.

The soft ivories and blue, with touches of mustard, really worked with this gorgeous black and white photo.

I started out by laying down some texture using light modelling paste and a Heidi Swapp mask.  While that dried, I fussy cut some elements from the Portfolio papers.  I knew I wanted to go with lots of layers and a few banners, and I really loved the play of zig zags and stripes in the papers.  I love how the light modelling paste is only semi-opaque when used in a thin layer.  It adds such amazing texture without feeling thick and heavy.  I also used some of the new Cosmo Cricket Glitter Sheets in my layering here.  They are self-adhesive, very easy to cut, VERY glittery, and there is no fallout from the glitter (yay for not having glitter all over my desk!).

I used one of the Pink Paislee Artisan Elements Borders with a little ink on top of some of my fussy cutting.  I layered in a little washi tape from my stash, a Pink Paislee tag from my warehouse box (did I mention that not only can you get a combination box, but also a paper box or embellishment box?)  The chipboard and wooden stars came from the box and from my stash.

Last (but not least!), I had to come up with a title.  Something about this photo made me think of the lullabye from "Lady and the Tramp."  I think it was the stars I was adding left and right.  Anyway, "Little Star Sweeper" sounded just right, and I hand-wrote "la la lu" above.  My final touch was a piece of twine with a bow around the photo.

For today's post, I have chosen a 12 x 12 layout. It was a beautiful day with my family on the grounds of the historic Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park, NY.
This is Donna, and this is my first design team post. After two guest design posts in July, I am so thrilled to be part of an awesome team!
I have used the Hope Chest collection by Pink Paislee from my Flamingo Scraps warehouse box, an incredible amount of goodies packed into one box! The possibilities are endless! This layout only used just a fraction of what's in the box!

I started with my background paper adding some embossed details using Tim Holtz Fabulous Flourishes stamp and one found object in my house. Here is where I chose my ink and spray color pallet. TH distress ink, rusty hinge to pick up the brick color in the photos, and two Glimmer Mist sprays, mustard seed and gumdrops, to blend with the paper pallet.

This photo shows the hidden journaling tag on the page and my ink/spray colors, and was also adhered with a stronger glue to reinforce the edges when the journaling tag is taken out and put back in. Each photo was matted with an 1/8" border, using patterned paper and inking the edges. I then decided on how I would embellish my page.

The scalloped fabric trim was Glimmer Mist'd, dried and cut to form my flowers for the page.

I knew I was going to want one flower on the edge of the page, the center flower, so it did not need to be a

perfect flower.

This white trim was also misted with the same two colors as the above flowers. I used these as flower center and also placed a couple on my page alone. I misted them with the Mustard seed first, dried, then misted again with the Gumdrops. No two will come out alike! 

With Webster's tutu trim, I simply took the piece and knotted one end and trimmed close to the knot to get the little pom pom flower. A dot of glue will hold the knot in place

This corner of my layout, I first fussy cut the legs from one of the papers, knowing I was going to overlap this onto one of my photos, I did not adhere it down completely at this point. With a piece of 'waffle' shelf liner I embossed directly over my piece, then stamped directly over the embossing, filling in the imperfect embossed image. 

Here is where I fussy cut another piece of patterned paper, cutting it so it was part of the background, but also overlay one of the photos. It also helps keep my hidden journaling flap down when it's closed.

Here are two butterflies from the collection, they come in white and off white, 2 of each. I misted one with Gumdrops again. When misting on different paper surfaces, you get different tonal effects which makes each have there own look, but still coordinate together!

Perfectly pouty and oh, so sweet!

I am quite the penny pincher and frugal scrapper. I love making my own backgrounds with solid-colored cardstocks, mists, texture mediums, and masks. I love, love, love it. It's my favorite part of the entire creation process. If you see me using actual patterned paper as a background, it's a special occasion, indeed, because the backgrounds I can make are usually far more interesting than the ones I can buy. That said, I do have an overabundance of patterned paper, and it can be altered to meet your needs, as well. I have don't many projects turning a piece of patterned paper into a work of art, as well, but there's nothing quite as fulfilling as taking a blank canvas and making it all my own.

I was going through the contents of the Flamingo Scraps Warehouse Box, and let me tell you. As a frugal scrapper, I was so impressed with not only the quantity of items in it, but also the fact that they are all things that give you your money's worth! You can get one with only the fabulous patterned papers the store has stocked. You can get one with all kinds of fun embellishments, as well. Or, if you want some of each, there's an option for that, as well!

Most of my page, below, uses lots of stuff you could possibly receive in a warehouse box, and I received so much, I piled on the clusters to celebrate! It's not something I often do, but I really love it when I'm inspired to do it.  Take a look!

This set of photos from my dear friend, Genie, of her daughter Ellie, were something I was dying to scrap since she gave them to me. As a mother of two boys, finding something girlie is always a challenge, but Genie will always come through with something for me! Isn't that pout just too cute? 

I used lots of different Prima studs on this page, which you might receive in either the combo warehouse box or the embellishments warehouse box. I also used some Studio Calico veneer cameras and Pink Paislee artisan stars that I colored black with Prima Chalk ink. I also used Black Velvet Color Shine to stamp the journaling box! I'd never tried it before, but it works well if you practice a few times to know the right amount of dab to do it. 

I took some gel medium and masked the Prima 12x12 Turkish stencil and then rubbed it with chalk ink to make it stand out a little more. The matte gel dries clear, so it would also be a good way to add a subtle texture to the page without any additional color. 

I layered up on the trim and borders, just because there were so many in the warehouse box that I couldn't decide which to use first! I have a Prima studs border, a Heidi Swapp fringe trim, and a little banner I made out of some washi tape and baker's twine from my own stash. The alpha is slightly tucked into the Heidi Swapp photo book for interest. 

The Heidi Swapp Serendipity Fotostack Book Heart was just perfect to place the extra photos on the page without making the page too busy! I love how her cute little face can peek out of the front!

On the inside, I did minimal embellishing, just because I wanted the album to be able to lay flat. I used some Studio Calico Polaroid-style frames, something you might also find in the warehouse box, just to give the photo its own little spotlight. 

For one final encore, I used a Triumph Stix from Heidi Swapp to complete a page fit for a princess! The crown really was the perfect touch when tucked into the last page of the photo book.

I was SO excited when I peered into my Flamingo Scraps Warehouse Sale Box , that I actually squealed with joy. Never had I gotten so many yummy scrappy goodies for such a great price! I didn't know what I should create first until my grandson told me that he needed some of that "stuff " I got in the big box because he wanted to make his own vacation scrapbook. I always said Gabriel was a genius. (He obviously takes after me.) I combined goodies from my grab box with some of the latest items from CHA to help Gabe make his little album. I got a wonderful pack of TH grunge sheets and luckily for Gabe I have a HUGE stash of TH so I allowed him to use the "leather paper" he calls it for his album.

For the cover we used the  Ranger Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas,  a new CHA item that can be found in  the store and comes in 12 x 12 sheets. I am totally in love with this product! To hold it all together, I used the Tim Holtz ruler binder. You could also use rings in place of this. The title and year are Maya Road chipboard from "The Box." Letters and numbers are from my stash. 

                                   

Heidi Swapp journal tag envelope let's us journal "FUN" things about our camping trips while our grunge page is painted camo (G said he needed more macho here) , using Tim Holtz paints. I like the Pink Paislee Destinations paper with the schematics for the pages of building models. 

Nothing says summer like being in or on the water, especially here in the state of Florida.The word "Swim" was made using the new Cosmo Cricket Glitter Sheets  from the Crystal Lake collection. You get all the shimmery goodness of glitter without finding it on everything six months later. The Prima scalloped paper worked well for the waves. New to Flamingo Scraps from CHA are really cute cork hearts with sticky backs  from Fancy Pants. These also come in arrows and various shapes.

Well, that's all for now. Of course we'll be adding more to the album with the goodies from "THE BOX". But, as those of you with young children in your lives know, for the most part they have "gnat" span for attention spans so we'll put this aside until next weekend.
