Bayberry Cottage Page Kit: Layout #1

So on Monday, I showed you the three cards I made using pink paislee's bayberry cottage.  Today I'm going to show you one of my 2-page layouts I made using the rest of my kit!  Up until now, I had trouble finding just the right paper to use for my bachelorette party....

From Flamingo Scraps: pink paislee Bayberry Cottage patterned papers (houndstooth and lime green), Prima flowers
Other supplies: bazzill magenta and grey cardstock, Sigma white pen, Basic Grey romani rubons, Cricut Simply Sweet cartridge and Doodlebug mini simply sweet white rubons

And because it can be hard to see up close, here's the left side:

And the right side:

It is a very girly layout that the pink paislee Bayberry Cottage collection is perfect for!  I'm off to a scrapbooking weekend at the beach tomorrow and I'm looking forward to scrapping with some great friends.  I'll be back on Friday to show ya what progress (if any) I have made during my scrappy retreat, including the completion of this page kit!

Hope you all have a great week!

As Promised...Mini Easter Album

I don't know what it is lately, but I have been trying to document all the little things in life.  I love doing mini albums and the two just seem to go so well together.  I have mini's of my Halloween decor, my Christmas decor, things in my purse....what's next?  Well, Easter of course.

The Maya Road Mini Scroll book is simply adorable.  And, mixed with some of the scraps from the Prima Raspberry Tea line, perfect for those Easter photos.

Flamingo Scraps Products Used:  Maya Road Mini Scroll Album, Maya Mists in Cotton Candy, Blue, Avocado Metallic and Iridescent Pearl.Tim Holtz Distress Inks:  Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass

This kit is so adorable.  With lots of extra chipboard goodies such as flowers, flourishes and birds, you really have a complete album on one sheet of chippie.  Of course, you know, I couldn't resist adding a few extra Prima flowers.  hee hee  And, with Maya Mists I was quickly able to cover all the naked chipboard to match.  This album has 6 pages ready to play with.  So, what do you want a mini of?

Hugs,

Nancy

Bayberry Cottage Page Kit: Cards

This pink paislee paper line is gorgeous!  Today, I'm going to show you three cards I made:

So a few weeks ago, I pulled together this page kit using the pink paislee Bayberry Cottage Collection:

With the plan to make two 2-page layouts and three cards.  On Saturday I figured out which pictures I wanted to use and on Sunday I had them printed.  First, I cut down all my patterned paper and sorted into my five separate projects.  Then I set aside my two layout kits and I was left with supplies to make three cards!  The first card I made is this mother's day card for my Mom:

The double sided paper makes for a great base for the card -- look at the fun pattern on the inside!  I doodled some stitches on there, added some of the fabulous new Prima bling and it's all ready to go!
Next up, this all occasion card:

I fussy cut out those cute "flowers" from one of the patterns and glued down some others on scraps.   I finished it all off by adding happy birthday and some stickles in the centers of the flowers.  You could also leave the senitment blank. That way, you could just add a sentiment when I'm in need of a quick card to send out for thank you, congrats, sorry, happy birthday, get well and so on!
The last card I made is this thank you card:

I ran the top piece of blue cardstock through my cuttlebug, added a die cut from the bayberry collection and a butterfly punched from a scrap.  This whole card took less than five minutes to glue together!

I hope you liked the cards and I'll be back on Wednesday to show you the two, two-page layouts I made using the rest of my scrappy kit!

Out of Time

I set out this morning, after my daughter's slumber party, to make a fun little project to share with you today.  Well, best laid plans and all.....glue has finally dried, but it is too dark to take a good photo.  So, you will have to wait until Tuesday.  Sorry.

Instead of leaving you with nothing fun to look at I thought I would show you some fun, new things that arrived in the store this week.

Pink Paislee 6x12 Artisan Collection Black Album

These new Artisan Albums from Pink Paislee are simply yummy.  I love the black and white pattern.  So versatile.  And I love the hounds-tooth border.
Pink Paislee 4x8 Artisan Collection Natural Album

And look at this one....in Natural.  Thinking a quick spritz of some mist might just be perfect.

The  shape of these albums are so fun.  Something different from the traditional square. However, if you are looking for something a little more traditional....
Pink Paislee 6x6 Artisan Collection Blue Album

Yum!  And how much do I love that swiss dot binding.

And if you are looking for something fun to put inside....

How about some fun pages using the new Pink Paislee Papers (this one done with the Bayberry Cottage Line).

There are lots of new Artisan tapes as well.  But I will save those for another day.  Wow...looks like I have my next few posts ready to go.

Until then....

Hugs.

Argyle Card

I tend to keep all the little scraps of patterned paper leftover from my projects.  I just can't bear the thought of tossing away any fabulous paper!  So I look for clever ways to use small pieces and get the most out of my leftover tiny bits and pieces.  This week we found out that my husband's cousin (and wife!) are the proud parents of a cute little baby boy... another family member this year!  That makes three babies since Christmas among our cousins.  And we couldn't be more thrilled for them.  :)  So we are putting together a present to ship out to them on Monday and, of course, it would not be complete without a cute little handmade card.

I started with a leftover scrap of the blue piece of patterned paper from the pink paislee 365 collection called Daydream.  The scrap was just shy of 3/4" wide and about 8" long.  I freehand sketched a diamond on a scrap piece of paper and used it to guide my cuts of the strip of paper.  Once I had five diamonds cut from my scrap, I glued them down and turned on my sewing machine!

From Flamingo Scraps:  pink paislee 365 degrees collection, xmas red stickles
Other supplies: white cardstock, grey sharpie, lime green thread

After stitching in the lines to finish my argyle pattern, I finished the card off by writing congratulations with a grey sharpie and adding a heart using xmas red stickles.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Join Marion Tonight for a Fabulous Mothers' Day Project!

I once played  Bucket List Bingo on a scrappy site using a list of 100 things that you might put on your own  personal Bucket List -- you know, those things you have always wanted to do.  Afterwards I made up my own Bucket List for a layout (which I have yet to do!).  One of the things was "Give your mother two dozen roses and tell her you love her."  Enter Marion Smith's beautiful project for Mothers' Day -- a rose vase -- two dozen stunning Prima roses in a lovely Prima Altered Ego Vase!

What is on your Bucket List?  Why not include giving your Mother two dozen everlasting roses and telling her you love her!  Watch Marion's Live With Prima Show tonight at 6:30PDT and 9:30EDT -- fantastic techniques and ideas from Marion Smith, fun and fast-paced chat with terrific scrappers, a lovely gift for your dear Mama, and cross an item off YOUR Bucket List.

Flamingo Scraps will have these kits for preorder in the store by showtime!  See you there!!

Getting Goofy

Today I wanted to share with you a layout I did using 365 Degrees from Pink Paislee.  She loves getting goofy in front of the camera.

Flamingo Scraps Products Used:  Pink Paislee 365 Degrees Collection Patterned Paper, Punch Outs, Ambrose Alphabet- Bayberry. Prima E-Line flowers and pearls.

I love that all the papers from Pink Paislee are double sided, I can get so much color and pattern while only cutting up one sheet. The red scallop paper and the notebook paper are the same sheet as are the stripe and the red.   And I still have scraps left to play with later.

Hope you are having a great day!

Hugs.

Scrapping Favorites

I may be addicted to pretty flowers and paper but my husband has a far deeper addiction to Law & Order!  We all tease him and, for the most part, humor him and watch along with him anyway.  I decided it was about time I documented his favorite tv show for posterity!  A week or so ago, I planned this page out and pulled together these supplies:

And this weekend I finally got down to scrapping using my page kits I made.  For this layout, I used pink paislee's 365 collection and bayberry cottage collection, as well as the Sketchy Thursday April 1st sketch:

I made a picture in photoshop for the layout showing all three logos from the show using some digi supplies:

Digi supplies: mscraps Ready for Spring patterned paper, paislee press photogenic mailing label picture frame

And had it printed 4x6".  When I got to scrapping I swapped in some artic blue glimmer mist, black prima bling and a red foam glitter heart:

From Flamingo Scraps:  pink paislee 365 degrees and bayberry cottage collections, pleated ribbon, prima bling, glimmer mist (coming soon!)
Other supplies:  Bazzill swiss dot, american crafts thickers, red foam heart, maya road tag, postage edge punch

For those of you who haven't seen Law & Order, every episode starts with the same monologue while that logo shows on the screen, then you hear "dun dun" and the episode starts.  We always tease my husband about the show using those words.

My husband was pretty excited that I made a scrapbook page for him about his favorite tv show! He even asked if I could make a second one about Bobby! lol He's really bummed though that there will be no more episodes with Bobby Goren, his favorite character, on Law & Order Criminal Intent. I suppose all good things must come to an end eventually right?!

Have you ever scrapped about for your favorite tv show or current obsession(s)?  I'd love to see your layouts if you have. :)

Welcome and a Quick Resist Tutorial

First off, to all of you who are here from the Live with Prima, Marion Smith show tonight...  Welcome....and we will have the kits up, in store, tomorrow.  We are beyond thrilled to have partnered with Live with Prima and Marion Smith and look forward to getting to know all of you more.

Today, I thought I would share with you a layout of my daughter, and a quick tutorial using Distress Inks.  I have had the new Webster's Pages sitting on my desk, waiting for the perfect photos to use some with.  I came across a new challenge site on Ning, saw the color scheme and new exactly what I wanted to do.

Flamingo Scraps products:  Webster's Pages:  Lullaby Collection, Dreamland.  Prima Marketing Flowers: Symphony Blend, Calcutta Blue, Calcutta Mini's Porcelain, Mini Roses, E-line Bling, Pebbles.  Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Mustard Seed, Spun Sugar.

The colors were perfect with her outfit, and the Prima flowers really helped brighten the soft papers.

I made the two inky blocks with distress inks, white acrylic paint, and a couple of stamps.

I started with painting my stamps with the acrylic paint.

I then stamped the image onto my cardstock block.
I know, it is hard to see, but trust me, it is there.

I then began layering the distress inks onto the paper.  I started with the lighter colors and worked my way darker, going back to add bits of other colors as needed, till I got the look I wanted.

You can see the the paint resisted the distress ink.  I took a slightly damp paper towel and wiped the surface to remove any excess ink from the stamped image and....

Give it a try.  I know you have some stamps and acrylic paint lying around.  And we have all your favorite Tim Holtz distress inks in the store now.

Have a great weekend!

Hugs.
