Janet's take:

Other Supplies: Making Memories Vintage findings; Teresa Collins Blingage; Ribbon from Savvy n Sassy; Prima Pebbles

I LOVE Pink Paislee paper and I thought I would like to use it some other way than just a layout. So why not a pretty holiday decor item?  I had this 7 Gypsies Printer Tray that I thought would do just the trick. I got busy and cut up the paper and journal cards and even the beautiful lace and decorated the tray and I think it will be a wonderful addition to my Christmas decorations this year!

By using the Stickles, a piece of transparency and a Bazzill template I was able to create my own flourishes too. Just let the stickles dry and cut it out.

I made this tag to put in my December Daily album.  My niece Abigail, unlike her brother, is hanging out until her due date next week... so I definitely expect her to be my favorite "Christmas gift" this year! :)  The flower looks really black in the picture but it's really a deep red color in person!  You can see a little better in this photo:

I can't wait to add it to my December Daily album next week!

Suzanne's take:
From Flamingo Scraps: Flamingo Five items
Other supplies: Spellbinders die; Tim Holtz rosette die; Sizzix dove die; tassle

It is amazing what you can do with just two pieces of paper and a few fabulous embellishments!  This banner was made with a Maya Road Frayed Canvas Banner Album as the base, the paper from Flamingo Five was trimmed into six triangles and adhered to the canvas, left over paper was cut with Spellbinders scalloped circle dies, a dove sizzix die and Tim Holtz rosette sizzix die.  The letters are Tim Holtz Grunge Alphas sprayed with regular black spray paint.  Gunmetal stickles, Garnet E-line bling, Prima Flowers, Fancy Pants lace and Maya Road Star stickpin from Flamingo Five grab bag and a miscellaneous tassle complete the banner which is strung on grosgrain ribbon.  It is now hanging on my mantle!!!!

So here we are at the end of our fourth Flamingo Five and we hope you enjoyed it! Please come back and join us on the 15th of next month to see what we made with a new batch of five goodies from Flamingo Scraps! We hope that we have inspired you and we'd love to see what you make if you do, so please stop by and share it with us!

Jolaine's take:
From Flamingo Scraps: Flamingo Five items; Glimmer Mist Sweet Clover and Vintage Pink
Other Supplies: American Crafts Thickers

It was my first time playing with Dear Lizzy papers. They are so playful and girlie! As soon as I saw them I knew what I wanted to do. You see, my five year old daughter loves to come into my scrapbook room and use all my cardstock and tools. I have been meaning to make her an art journal and I think these were the perfect papers for it! I sprayed the lace with Sweet Clover Glimmer Mist and the roses with Vintage Pink. To make the mat for the title, I cut two ovals out of the stripe paper and decorated the border of one of them with a Martha Stewart corner punch. All I added were the alphas to make the title. I simply altered a composition notebook and gave her the scraps to play with along with a glue stick and scissors. She was over the moon!

Tonya's take:

Each year I make Christmas tags that I place on packages for select friends and loved ones.  These tags can also be used as Christmas Tree ornaments.  I always make sure to cover the back to give a clean finish on both sides.  They are very well received, and it is fun to see past ornaments on family trees.   Since it is mid-November, I decided to make Christmas tags with my Flamingo Five supplies.  Although the supplies aren't Christmas themed, I think they still have a nice seasonal look. I was able to create four tags with the supplies. I also added the Maya Road chandelier crystals for added bling.

Amanda's take:

Other Supplies: Stampin' Up Heart punch; Studio Calico polaroid stamp; Basic Grey chipboard "a"; Pink Catseye Inkpad; Micron pen

When my sister, Katie, had my adorable nephew Creighton he was five weeks early.  My sister was carrying around a stack of photos in her purse as she went back and forth to the NICU for 10 days so I made her a cute little photo album to hold the photos.  A few weeks ago, she asked me if I was going to make her another little photo album to put Abigail's first photos.  Of course I am!  And these papers were perfect for it. :)  So I covered the album and made a cute first page to add a photo to when Abby makes her arrival in the next few weeks!

Suzanne's take:
From Flamingo Scraps: Flamingo Five items; Maya Road mega super bottle cap; Tim Holtz distress ink in frayed burlap
Other supplies: Spellbinders die; Tim Holtz rosette die;

Last, but certainly not least, are Suzanne's ornaments!  Looks like Tonya and Suzanne were on a similar wavelength this month!  She made two fabulous ornaments with this month's Flamingo Five items.

So here we are at the end of our third Flamingo Five and we hope you enjoyed it! Please come back and join us on the 15th of next month to see what we made with a new batch of five goodies from Flamingo Scraps! We hope that we have inspired you and we'd love to see what you make if you do, so please stop by and share it with us!

Flamingo Five: Maya Road Owl Coaster Album

Welcome to our next installment of Flamingo Five!  Five items... lots of creative points of view!!  Miss our first installment?  Check out last month's Hallowe'en in Wonderland Flamingo Five.  Shall we get started?!

October's Flamingo Five items are:
1. Maya Road Owl Coaster Album
2. Prima Pearls & Crystals Ice Bling
3. Maya Road trinket pin grab bag
4. Prima E-Line & Craftables flower grab bag
5. Flamingo Scraps Cheep Trims:  White Cotton Braid

All items available at Flamingo Scraps (limited quantities on hand!). We all started with these supplies and the instructions to make something using all five items. Any other items could be added to complete the project.

Are you ready to see what we made?!

Diana's take:
From Flamingo Scraps:  Flamingo Five items, Pink Paislee 365 Degrees Collection.

Here is my Owl Coaster Album. I used the Flamingo Five items as well as papers from Pink Paislee 365 collection. I used the 6x6 paper pack -- the perfect sized papers for this album. I also cut my photos using a 2" scallop punch, adhering them with either Glue Dots or Pop Dots. One thing I wanted to note about my approach to mini albums: I always break them in half. Most minis are sold in way more pieces than I need for a single project, so breaking this one in half makes two 3-piece (or 6-pages back-to-back) albums. I like that it stretches my purchase further and makes the mini less intimidating to fill.

Genie's take:

From Flamingo Scraps: Flamingo Five items; Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen and Peeled Paint.
Other Supplies:  Bazzill Basics cardstock, Fancy Pants patterned paper & buttons (Little Sprout), Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Ink in Butterscotch, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type, Spare Parts letters, Crafter's Workshop Template.

I think the theme of my layout is INK!!  Just about everything used here is altered in some way with Tim Holtz Distress Inks or Adirondack Alcohol Ink.  First I created the background using a brick template and Distress Ink.  I inked the lace trim and the flowers with two colors of Distress Ink, and the pearls were altered using Adirondack Alcohol Ink.  Chipboard is always a challenge for me, but this cute owl gave me my title and worked well as a journal spot once covered in patterned paper (and inked, of course!)

Amanda's take:

From Flamingo Scraps:  Flamingo Five items; Ranger Cotton Candy & Icicle Stickles; Prima Clear Stamp Paintables Flower #1; Tim Holtz Distress Ink in tattered rose
Other Supplies:  Basic Grey Urban Prairie patterned papers, Fiskars postage stamp punch; Martha Stewart butterfly confetti punch; American Crafts pen

I absolutely LOVE this coaster album from Maya Road!  So much so, that I made this, saved the other four owls from the set and then made another album out of a second coaster set!!  You can see my other owl mini album Who Loves You? over on my blog later today.  I have been wanting a place to jot down quotes for later use and this is the perfect size!  I just cut some white cardstock and stamped it with a new Paintables stamp from Prima & some tattered rose distress ink to give it a little bit of a background.  Super easy and now I have a cute new critter that lives on my desk! :)

Suzanne's take:

From Flamingo Scraps: Flamingo Five items; Maya Mist in Cherry Metallic (Cardinal) and Lemon Metallic (Straw)
Other supplies:  Daisy D's pp from my stash; Bazzill cardstock for the journaling; embroidery hoop

In my family, owls mean one thing -- my Daddy's nickname for Mama -- The Big Owl.  Dating back to their college courting days, it refers to Mama being the president of Chi Omega Sorority, the owl is their mascot, during their senior year at the University of Florida.  This little owl mobile incorporates the colors, purposes, ideals, flower and gems of Chi Omega!

So here we are at the end of our second Flamingo Five and we hope you enjoyed it!  Please come back and join us on the 15th of next month to see what we made with a new batch of five goodies from Flamingo Scraps!  We hope that we have inspired you and we'd love to see what you make if you do, so please stop by and share it with us!

Flamingo Five: Hallowe'en in Wonderland

Welcome to our very first Flamingo Five!!  We picked five products then challenged our September Guest Design Team and ourselves to use all five items in our project or layout!!  So without further adieu... here are the five items:

Up first, Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland,Wonderland Classifieds patterned paper:

And for our second item, Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass patterned paper:

The third item is Prima's new Craftables Flowers:

Fourth is one of our favorite staple items -- Prima Pearls & Crystals Ice bling:

And finally, the fifth item is the Flamingo Scraps Vintage/Steampunk Embellishment Grab Bag:
Full of Tim Holtz Grungeboard, watch pieces, clock hands, keys, metal gears, vintage ephemera, navy scallop ric rac, white ball trim.... every grab bag is different!!

All items available at Flamingo Scraps (limited quantities on hand!).   We all started with these supplies and the instructions to make something using all five items.  Any other items could be added to complete the project.

Are you ready to see what we made?!

Cindy's take:

I have to admit- when I opened the package containing the Flamingo Five, I had a moment of panic. My style is simple, so it is unusual that I use five supplies on a single project, let alone five that someone else picked out!

Fortunately, it didn't take long before I realized that these items would make a great Halloween wall hanging. I found an old wooden plaque, inked the edges with black Staz-On, and then used Mod Podge to adhere the dotted paper. I cut out Alice from the othersheet of paper and gave her a bunch of coats of Mod Podge too. With a coat of paint inside and out, and a smear of Stickles on top, the glass dome transformed into a full moon. The grungeboard pumpkin got a coat of paint and Stickles as well, and I backed it with a scrap of black paper. Then I punched out the negatives from the grungeboard butterfly and sprayed them and the Prima flowers with Glimmer Mist to make the pumpkin leaves.

To make the green vines, I sprayed the off-white trim with Glimmer Mist. When it was dry, I wound it around the handle of a foam brush and sprayed it with Krylon. Perfectly curled vines!

Supply list:  Flamingo Five; Staz-On - Jet Black; Stickles - Star Dust; Glimmer Mist - Key Lime Pie; Mod Podge; Krylon Acrylic Spray; Paint Delta (yellow) and Americana (brown, orange)

Jill's take

I used both pieces of paper. The flowers are in the upper left corner.  The pearls and crystals in ice are on the letters, the centres of the flowers and are the stars around the moon.  From within the vintage/steampunk bag, I used: ribbon, Tim Holtz grungeboard (moon/pumpkin).  I used my own: piece of cardstock (Bo Bunny), piece of purple pattern paper (Basic Grey) and the lettering.

Amanda's take

I don't have too many Halloween related pictures, so I ended up making a layout for my husband's book about his bike riding!
Flamingo 5 items, Bazzill cardstock, font is 1942 Report, charcoal Maya Mist and navy Tattered Angels mist.

What I love most about this layout is really hard to see... if you look closely to the picture above, you'll see a really subtle watermark effect on the cream cardstock.  I used my new 7 Gypsies gear stamp from the Steampunk stamp set and iridiscent pearl Maya Mist to "watermark" the cardstock with a shimmery pattern.  Just wanted something a little more than just plain cardstock!
Susan's take

When my daughter Jessica was young, my Mother-in-law bought her an Alice in Wonderland dress from the Disney Store because she thought Jessica would look like Alice, at least Disney's version of Alice. Of course, I had to augment the dress with the white tights, black Mary Janes and a Headband to complete the "Alice" look!

I've been waiting for the right opportunity to scrap this photo of Jessica and Flamingo Five for September gave me the resources!

I used a Border from the Wonderland Die Cut Borders at the very top of the Layout. Bazzill card stock is the base of the Layout and the smaller photo mat. Everything else is from the Flamingo Five Set as follows:
  1. G 45's Wonderland Classifieds - The fussy cut Alice, the dotted frame and the bigger photo mat
  2. G 45's Through the Looking Glass - The fussy cut Mad Hatter and the horizontal paper strip under the photo.
  3. Craftables Flowers - I used Bronze Glimmer Mist on the bigger bloom and Blue Raspberry Metallic Maya Mist on the smaller bloom, then layered them.
  4. Pearls & Crystals Ice - Large Pearls used as flower centers
  5. Steampunk Embellishment Grab Bag - Grungeboard Moon, Vintage Key, Navy Blue Velvet Ric Rac Trim and Vintage Clock Hands emanating from one of the flowers.
This was a lot of fun!

Suzanne's take

I have to admit I was worried about this first Flamingo Five challenge!  I'm an "organic" scrapper, could I work with pre-determined products?  Well, the answer is up to you, but I am pretty happy with the result!  I have wanted to scrap these silly pictures of my cat and was inspired by the Cheshire Cat in the Jack o' Lantern.

I used both sheets of Hallowe'en in Wonderland patterned paper (1,2), the Prima E-line pearls and crystals in Ice (3), the Prima Craftables Flowers (4) and the lace, rick rack, clock hands, tiny paper bag, gear, and grunge butterfly from the embellie grab bag!  It must be said that Tim Holtz Distress Inks and a teal water color pencil helped me pull everything together!  Now I can't wait for the next Flamingo Five!

Now that we've made it to the end, we hope you enjoyed our very first Flamingo Five and you'll come back and join us on the 15th of each month to see what we made with a new batch of five goodies from Flamingo Scraps!  We hope that we have inspired you and we'd love to see what you make if you do, so please stop by and share it with us!
