Project Life - Flamingo Style

Hi everyone!
It's Alicia, back again with one last layout using Pink Paislee's Secret Crush line.  I thought it would be PERFECT to use for the week of Valentine's Day in my Project Life album!  In addition to Valentine's Day, we also attended a wedding, so the week was full of love!
Here is the full, two-page layout:

I used the Pink Paislee Collection pack and the Paper Goods for most of the accents for this week.  I also used a couple of the Studio Calico wood veneers, and colored the veneer on the calendar with some Color Shine by Heidi Swapp that gives it the perfect amount of shimmer.  A last minute detail that I just love is the little Maya Road Trinket Birdie Clip on the date card.

Flamingo Scraps is having a great sale on the remaining Secret Crush items, so if you love it as much as I have, you'd better get it quick before it's gone!!

Don't forget Friday with the Flamingo Four! Cindy deRosier and three of our VERY talented Flockinistas will be showing off what they created with their box of FS goodies this month !! It's sure to inspire !

Until next time!

Secret Crush - Layout

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Ustream on February 4.  If you missed it, you can watch it here. Save the date for our next class on March 4, at 8:30 EST.

Today, I'd like to follow up with a layout that I created with some of the other products in the Pink Paislee's Secret Crush Line.  All of these products are available in the store while supplies last.   Many of these products used on this layout were included in the class kit. This layout was a fun way to use up those extra pieces.

Kenny and I  met in high school, dated for about 5 years, and on February 10, we will celebrate our 23rd Wedding Anniversary.  The ephemera pack and and the photograms in the Secret Crush line reminded me of my high school crush, so I decided to take that approach to the layout.

Flamingo Scraps: Pink Paislee Secret Crush Paper, Ephemera Pack, Note Cards, Cardstock Stickers,  Photograms, File Folder tabs; Heidi Swapp - Color Shine Tinsel; Fab Scraps Chipboard - Decorative Hinge.  Other:  Tim Holtz Tissue Tape - Sketchbook, Tiny Attacher ; Gesso; Martha Stewart Doily Border Punch; Stamp'n Up Envelope Die.

I remember my high school love notes to Kenny were always decorated with hearts,  arrows, XOXOXO,  lips (some were kissed),  and those  "True Love Always" grids with our initials were all over them. I would spend every class period writing him a note, so I could give it to him when we changed classes.  I still have the notes he wrote back to me.  They are tucked away in a shoe box at the top of my closet.  He found them the other day and began reading them. He was shocked I still had them after all these year. I have to admit, I blushed a little while he re-read them.

My mission was to make my layout match those love notes.  I started with a 4x6 photo of him I took last year. I layered the stickers, file tabs, hearts and arrows around the photo making sure all the love titles were visible.   I dry brushed gesso in some places to break up all the "pink", and I also added a gessoed border to the photo.  Tim Holtz Tissue Tape from his Sketchbook Collection offered spots of  "romantic script" to this sea of white and pink.

For my journaling, I decided to use a piece of scrap from the paper collection to make an envelope.  I used a Fab Scraps decorative hinge chipboard cut that was sprayed with the new Heidi Swapp Color Shine Tinsel to anchor the thin arrow on the left.  I also sprayed the tinsel onto the background and let it drip down the paper. For the title, I used some fabric Thickers in pink that I got from Flamingo Scraps a while back. Since we have been together for so long, I decided the title should be "My Love Story".

I love how  this layout reminds me so much of those notes I wrote so many years ago.

If you make a project using this line, please share it on the Flamingo Scraps Facebook page.  Be sure to tag me in the post so that I see it. I love to see your creations.

A Non-Valentine Layout Using Secret Crush

Hello Flockinistas!

It's Alicia, here again with a layout showing that just because the line is themed for a holiday, it doesn't have to be used that way!
This time of year, I always find myself with a large amount of "themed" supplies.  I use to think was a problem, until I realized that just because they are part of a "Christmas" or "Valentine's" line, doesn't mean they only have to be used for those holidays.  Using supplies that you can get from Suzanne in the Flamingo Scraps store (NOW New and Improved!), I combined the Pink Paislee "Secret Crush" and the Teresa Collins "Now and Then"  lines to create a very un-Valentine's Day layout of my husband and I out for my birthday this year.  I took this picture myself standing in front of these giant fire bowls near the restaurant we had dinner at this night.

The background paper, the damask, the doily print and the pennant flags below the pictures were all taken from the Secret Crush line, while the clocks and blue patterned paper came from Now and Then.  The "This Moment" sentiment was cut out from one of the papers in the Now and Then collection, and with the blue and gray color scheme, these supplies no longer look like they only belong on a Valentine's layout!

For a  texture and to add a little interest, I have layered a doily on top of one of the Fancy Pants Filter Paper embellishments, which I just inked with a couple of my Prima Chalk Edgers to coordinate with the rest of the color palate of my layout.  I used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to add that tab from the Secret Crush Photo tabs directly to my photo.

In addition to the digital brush that I applied to my photo before printing, I used a couple of the stick pins, mini-clothes pins (aren't they adorable?) and some of the Tim Holtz filmstrip ribbon as accents on this layout.

This little journaling block is the bottom half of the library card tag which is included on the "Now and Then" elements sheet that comes with the collection pack.  The little pennants I cut from some of the larger elements from the Secret Crush Paper Goods die cut pack!

So, I hope this has helped everyone get a lot more use out of those "themed" supplies that can be used year round!  Leave a comment and let me know how you have re purposed some of your "themed" products!

Until next time!

Happy Valentines Day Pink Paislee Style

Good Morning Ladies of the Flock!

Alicia here, back  to show you a lovely little card that I created with the Pink Paislee Secret Crush Collection that you can find in the Flamingo Scraps store!

I started out with a blank white card and cut a piece of the doily paper that can be found in the paper pack to cover the front of the card.  Then came the fun part!  I used elements from the Secret Crush Photo Frames and the Paper Goods Die Cuts to layer on the cutest touches!  To add a little texture, I added one of the vellum feathers from Jenni Bowlin.  The little square with the sentiments on front is cut from another one of the great papers in the paper pack.

After all of the goodness on the front of the card, the inside looked way too bare, so I added a piece of another one of the papers in the pack and this cute "eye chart" from the die cuts pack.

This line is great, and doesn't just have to be used for Valentine's Day.  Any time you need a shot of pink, this would be a great addition to any project!

Until next time!

Easy Stocking Stuffer

Good Morning Flockinistas!
It's Alicia again, here with a really cute and EASY project for you guys using some of the great items you can get in the Flamingo Scraps store!  These "sour cream containers" (so named because of their resemblance to single serve sour cream) can be used as a stocking stuffer, party favor, or treat bag!

To begin, I used some of Pink Paislee's City Sidewalks line paper and cut it into a 4"x 8" strip.
Then you need to run a strip of adhesive along one of the short edges and along the long edges on the back of the paper.
Once your adhesive has been applied, roll the strip of paper into a tube and adhere the ends overlapping one another.
Then, press one end of the tube closed to form a pocket and then fill with your goodies!

Pinch the open end closed in the opposite direction of the way you closed up the other side.  One side will be flat on your table and the other will be standing up.  I used the from the Teresa Collins "Christmas Cottage" stamps to create a cute little label for my treat container.
These can be used year round, just depending on the patterned paper that you choose to use.  Here is a Valentine's themed one using the new "Secret Crush" paper and epherma from Pink Paislee.

Until next time!!
Alicia
