A Papercrafter's Christmas!!!!

Today I want to show y'all two little Christmas ornaments I made using supplies from Flamingo Scraps and from my stash!!  The first is this Christmas tree, which can be free standing -- how cute would a little forest of these be -- or hung on your tree!

Rosette Tree

I used my Tim Holtz Rosette Dies to cut two large, two medium, and one small rosettes from this solid winter white side of Carta Bella Winter Fun paper.  I think it is pretty clear that these dies are two of my favorites as worn as they are!!  I cut the paper into two 6x12 pieces, ran one sheet through my xyron machine and adhered them together, then cut.  I wanted to make the parts of the tree sturdy so it would last more than one Christmas!

The Tim Holtz Dies can be special ordered through Flamingo Scraps!

The Carta Bella paper is from the Combination and/or the Paper Warehouse Boxes

I sprayed both sides of each rosette with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist

I used a Maya Road Wood Spool for the trunk
and round pearls from my stash to space the rosettes

I used white Prima Chalk Ink to stain the spool and a Maya Road
Pearl embellishment as a topper; I rolled the edges in wet adhesive and
then rolled them in some micro beads from my stash for a little bling --
glitter or even stickles would also work well

This tiny little ornament is as simple as can be!

I used the small green tree from a Fancy Pants Mini Tree pack and the smaller of these adorable glass domes from Tim Holtz (each package has two each of two sizes)

I twisted off the wood base of the tree and stuck the wire stem into the cork stopper

At just under two inches, this would be so sweet on a miniature tree, a Christmas tableaux, or even in a doll's house!

A Pocket (Purse) Full of Miracles

I have been dying to use Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic Collection from the first sneak peeks!!! I also wanted to do a project more involved than a layout, the better to utilize the FABULOUS papers and even MORE FABULOUS embellies!!! A mini was the obvious answer! A dear friend of mine from high school is winning her brave battle with cancer, so I thought a sentiment mini for her was perfect! The title of this post refers to one of our group's pet names for a handbag -- a "pocket purse."

My absolute fave -- Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic papers and embellies and
an adorable Maya Road Clutch Purse Chipboard Album!

Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Stamps are perfect for sentiment albums --
her pithy, irreverent, and poignant sayings themselves have inspired projects for me!

I painted the interior of the album with teal paint, inked and distressed,
then adhered some paper, and applied Mod Podge to seal.
I Mod Podged paper on the outside of the album,
distressed and inked it and sealed with another coat or two!

The album comes with 8 pages, but with my lumpy embellishing style, I chose to use only four.

Exterior of the finished album -- in addition to the Sugar Chic --
Prima bling, flowers and leaves, Maya Road Trinket Pin, FabScraps Charms,
Tim Holtz bauble, pink tulle fastens the book --
glue stiffens the ends and allows easy opening.

Perfect Accent on a Gluber, Maya Road Spool Sentiments Stamp.

Pages 2 & 3

Closeup of the Heidi Swapp Destination Trim -- this stuff is SERIOUSLY cool!!!!
I kept giggling as I heated it with a heat gun and saw it wiggle and curl!!!

Pages 5 & 6 -- Gluber and Maya Road Tulle Trim, Metal --
American Crafts Dear Lizzie, Maya Road Chipboard, Frantage Embossing Enamel Kit!

I am going to tuck a picture of our group of friends from high school into the album and send it winging its way to Donna, hoping that she will think of friends who love her and that she will smile whenever she sees her Pocket (Purse) Full of Miracles!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Welcome Sophia Elizabeth!

Some dear friends of mine from church recently welcomed a new great-granddaughter, Sophia Elizabeth, born Feb. 14!  I was going off to Scrap and Spa, in Union Pier, Michigan, for my annual scrappy weekend and a mini album was the perfect project to take!

I started with an 8x8 acrylic album I have had so long I don't remember the brand! I chose Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe collection with lots of embellies from Flamingo Scraps and my stash.

I really love working with acrylics though it can be a challenge to work out both sides looking neat!!

This is my finished cover -- I fussy cut the princess, added Prima bling, buttons, and made a charm of their songbird tiles!

I just love the Studio Calico Wood Veneer Potty People on this page -- a Four Generation picture is so special!

I recently found an old manual typewriter at a thrift store -- $5 and a new ribbon and I was in business!
Here I made jewelry hang tags with time, weight, and length on them.
I made plenty of tags of all sizes to tuck behind photo mats and on pages!

The page on the left is Webster's Pages Sunday Picnic with Prima flowers and leaves.  It coordinated beautifully with Emma's Shoppe!

Prima Trinkets by Marion Smith, seambinding, garment pins, pearls, Maya Road Trinket Pins, Crate Paper Bingo Chips, and miscellaneous embellies and trims ornament these pages!

On the back cover, I used a Maya Road stamp.

One of my favorite things about making minis is lavishing ribbon and trims on the binding rings and tucking in charms!

My friends loved this little book and I had such fun making it!!  I got some other projects done while in Michigan -- can't wait to share them with you!  Thanks for Looking!

Expecting New Arrivals and Nesting!!!

NOOOOOOOOO!  It would be a major medical miracle if I were THAT kind of expecting!!!!  But I did go into SERIOUS nesting mode around about the time sneak peeks of new CHA Winter 2012 releases started.   Though my whole house is undergoing a purge and organize regime, most of my time has been spent on my craft room and the spaces that house Flamingo Scraps!  I noticed that craft room re-dos were being discussed all over Facebook and very popular on Pinterest!

And can I just say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pinterest!!!  My mojo that was lost, now is found and I attribute it all to pinning!!

Everything used to be in stacked plastic drawers in the middle of the room --
this layout is much brighter and easier to get around in!
Almost everthing is in an open container -- you won't use what you can't see!!!
Love the Hobby Lobby "clip it ups,"  especially at 50% off.  Sewing machine and carts
with pictures underneath the table.

Fabric bins from Kmart, Michael's, and Big Lots
are labeled with chalkboard paper tags!
Ribbon in bins by color, buttons by color in glass jars,
bling, glitter, paints and mists -- I spray painted baskets I already had!

Paper storage, odd craft supplies, items for altering, stamps

Flowers!!!  The lazy susans are great for creating more room and getting to
what you have.

Some pinterest goodies -- pink tiered stand -- it is on a lazy susan --
Dollar Tree jars and candleholders, individual dessert dishes with
bling, beads, and buttons by color.

Art, artifacts, and objects that make me happy and inspire me!

Die cutting machine, dies, other large tools

Stickers, ephemera, alphas, grunge board, inks
Well, I guess I am all ready for the new arrivals!!!  Can't wait!!!  Stay tuned to Flamingo Scraps' Facebook Page, here at the blog, and our newsletters for updates on new items in the store!!!

First Birthdays

First birthdays are so magical with yummy cake all over such a delicious face. Who could resist these photo ops? Well, not I.

From Flamingo Scraps: Prima Madeline Paper Collection - Rosalee, Say It in Pearls & Lace Brown.
Other: Lindy's Stamp Gang Tibetan Poppy Blue & Creme Brule Cream, and Gossamer Gold, Flowers (Received in a RAK not sure where they are from), Tissue Paper, paper doily.

This is a photo I took of my niece Addy at her first birthday party. I wanted to select a paper that would not take away from the photo, so I picked the B side of the Prima Madeline Rosalee paper. I loved how the subtle blues on the borders complimented the blue in the frosting on her face.

I used a paper doily as a mask and sprayed my Lindy's Stamp Gang gently onto the paper. Then I moved the doily to the upper left hand corner to reveal the unsprayed area.

My friend had sent me a RAK (Random Act of Kindness) and it had all the beautiful flowers wrapped in Turquoise tissue paper. The paper was sprayed with a Gossamer Gold and then I cut it into strips and made a bow.

Guest DT Jen Unger: Grandma

Going through my photos I found these two pictures of my Grandma Adrian. One of her in her younger years, surrounded by children and the last formal picture taken of her before she passed away. I imagine the younger picture of her was the way most people saw her with a child in one arm and several children around her as she had 16 children. She was a very creative person and did so many beautiful detailed crafts. I created this page in Basic Grey Curio with her creativity in mind as this style was very much what she loved, floral and lacy.

From Flamingo Scraps: Basic Grey Curio- Camelia paper; Prima Felt Gate; Prima Velvet Heirloom Rose Leaves, meadow; Prima mini roses and fairy tale roses; and Prima e-line pearls
Other Supplies:  Martha Stewart punch

Jen's blog showcases her beautiful work and you can also catch up with her youtube channel!
