Tim Holtz Alterations Alarm Clock

Today I used a picture of my great nephew and my mom. Today is his 1st birthday and he loves his Aunt Momo as much as I love him.  His   AKA is ”Cookie, Cookie, Cookie because he is always asking me for cookies!!! My mom said he will only know me as the cookie lady. Lol !

For my project I altered a Tim Holtz Alarm Clock. Oh my gosh this, was so much fun to play with. I so want to do more of these !I think this might just be my favorite to date project ! Suzanne does not have these in the store but you can ask her to special order them for you if you would like. Be sure to stop by Flamingo Scraps for all your crafting needs. She has some of the best stuff to get your creative juices flowing!! Hope you like my creation as much as I loved making it!!

First off I took the glass out of the front of the clock then I coated the clock with gesso, then I let that dry. I used multi medium and started putting on the Tim Holtz Tissue paper. Then I added strips of the Lifetime paper words page. Next I used Tattered Angels Mist...I chose light colors so that you could see the paper. I used the Tattered Angels Suede one so that it would give it the old rusted look. I also used Maya Road Vintage Jewel Rhinestone Trim – Iridescent Diamond around the outside of the clock.


I then covered the back of the clock and and then started decorating it. I used Prima Symphony Blend Amoroso Pink The picture of my mom and nephew is in a Studio Calico Wood Veneers — Sampler 1. With this I had to use chipboard to prop it up. By doing this I cut a small strip of chipboard bended it in half and applied glue to hold it up. I also added a Studio Calico Wood Veneer Cameras


Here is a side view using old chain that I had found in the garage. I used gesso on it. Then hung the Prima Vintage Trinkets Birdcage, Maya Road Metal Antique Music Box Keys and Owl on it.


On the other side I used Maya Road Chipboard Shipping Tag Set, Maya Road Bird Cage Wood Pieces and Prima Divine Cotton Lace – 1 Roll for the bow and a tiny pin to pin it to the lace.


For this I used the Prima Tiny Junkyard Findings Vintage Trinkets — Turns & Handles and a Prima Tiny Junkyard Findings Vintage Trinkets — Gears


I also used
Prima Chalk Ink Edgers — Entire Set of 48 Colors!!!-several different browns and blue for the bird inside of the cage.

Project Life - Serendipity

Hello All!
I am back with another Project Life spread.  This time it is for Week 13 of 2013, which was the week leading up to, and including Easter!  For this spread, I used the Serendipity line of papers from Heidi Swapp to set the color scheme for the week.
Here are the shots of both sides together, including an insert - it is a cute bunny that the boy brought home from school!)

I just love how the colors of this Serendipity line go so well with so many spring activities.  The pink banner on the close up of the Easter basket is from a scrap of the Heidi Swapp Color Pop banners that I had left over from another project.  The heart on the picture of my husband and son is one of the Pink Paislee Portfolio Ephemera.

The "fun" on the top left picture is from the Pink Paislee Artisan Words, and it is colored with Color Shine in Tropicana Teal .  I used one of the Heidi Swapp Color Magic notes as the base for the title "Dyeing Eggs" and used her Color Shine Sprays to give it an ombre look.  The little envelope on the second row is by Webster's Pages, and there are more of the Pink Paislee Portfolio Ephermera on the bottom two pictures and the pink polka dot heart is cut from another section of the leftover Color Pop banner! 

Just because I love it's character, here is a close up of the boy's bunny that I adhered to some of the Heidi Swapp paper to help it stay in the page protector.

Springing into Summer with Hope Chest!

Good morning, Flockinistas! Melissa, here, with a layout sure to wet your springy (and summery) whistle! I made use of the Pink Paislee Hope Chest collection, found in store, along with some other goodies, to come up with a layout to celebrate our (eventual) arrival of spring! It may have taken until nearly the end of May, here in Michigan, but I can't complain about our mild temperatures thus far, and all the rain has made the gardens even better, as well!

Anyway, here is what I came up with in my journey:

Now, before you ask, I did make the background paper myself, and here is how:

First, I laid down the Prima wood grain mask (available via special order), and used some of the Prima Edger Chalk ink in two different browns (you can pre-order the entire color set at Flamingo Scraps, or buy individual inks, as well). Then, I mixed some modeling paste with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Chartreuse and used another Prima mask (Checker - also available via special order) and spread the modeling paste mixture with it. 

Don't you just love the texture it adds to the page?

For the main focus of the page, I used some Webster's Pages Ruffled Bloomers in cream, more Prima Chalk ink to stamp the title with some old foam stamps from my stash (sadly, this is the first time I'd used them and I've had them for a while!), a crocheted flower topped by a flower-shaped paperclip (shaped paperclips have been a re-emerging trend, and you can find some in the Flamingo Scraps store, as well. I recommend the Prima Sampler pack!). I used some Maya Road trinket pins and a Studio Calico Polaroid Frame, as well as a Webster's Pages Love Birds charm and added some stitching with my sewing machine for even more texture. 

All in all, I am in love with this page, and I hope you are, too! That's all I have for today, so I hope you found some inspiration.

A Towel Ape and a Thank You

Don't you just love it when a company or business treats you well? Especially, when they really didn't have to? I don't know about you, but I like to work with pleasant, happy and appreciative people. When my husband and I went on our honeymoon cruise we were just so impressed with the staff on the Norwegian Spirit. All the little things they did made our trip that much more special. Take this, for instance. The room stewards left us towel animal number 3 of our cruise with a sweet, hand written note thanking US! We felt we owed THEM a thank you for keeping our room so tidy. I saved the note and I have it here with a pic of mister towel ape himself. I made this page to remember it using a paper from Carta Bella's Well Traveled collection which is currently on sale at Flamingo Scraps. Besides being treated well, I also really love a bargain =) 

 

  This little embellishment sticker is just right for travel photos, or just whatever photo moment you might want to scrap.

  

 I think one of the biggest comeback trends of 2013 in the scrapbook industry has to be the photo corner. I also really love the star confetti stickers in this collection.

 I sort of layered the alpha stickers so that they were skinnier. I didn't have too much room since my travel journal is a 5x8 size, and I cut this paper down even smaller than that for some variety.  

 I used one of the banner stickers on the very edge of the page and then covered the back of it with an identically shaped sticker so no sticky parts were exposed.

  

I used less than one sheet of paper from the Carta Bella Well Traveled collection and several of the stickers. So, if you think about it, this collection has 9 papers and tons of stickers. Divide the total cost of the collection, $7.50, by the 9 papers = 84 cents. I made this cute little page for less than $1.00! How awesome is that?!?!?! So there you have it, a bargain and another great memory treasured away =)   Abigail--Scrapbookista

Memory Shadow Box with Prima

Every year for father's day I am always wondering what to give my husband for Father's Day.  We don't go all out or spend lots of money, that's just not us, but we do recognize each other on mother's day and father's day to let each other know how much they mean to our children and to us.

This year I made a little shadow box from the Prima wood pieces box, why not use the box the cute little wood items came in.  I treated it like a typewriter or shadow box you see everyone doing right now.  In it I placed 4 pictures of our children taken with in the last 2 weeks (except for our little angel Kristen).  I wanted candid shots, nothing but smiling faces, just the way we look at them everyday.

I used Heidi Swapp's color shine mists in various colors (Mustard, Primrose, Georgia Peach, and sweet cherry) to color the Prima wood box and also to color the Prima wood shapes and the Prima Resin pieces.

Here you can see an up close shot of some of the Prima mini flowers and some of the colored wood pieces.  For the paper backgrounds I used Pink Paislee's Journal cards and paper good from their Cottage farms collection.  I just cut out the sections I liked to fit in tot he little squares.

Here you can see the Prima resin (corner and little bird), wood, and also a bit of the Prima wood flower I glued on the back of the wood frame to use to hold the box up on the wall (since it is so light).

Quick Frame

Hello Flock Fans!
Alicia here, and I am back with a quick frame idea.

First, I coated the whole frame with a coat of pink paint, then let it dry.  I then cut this great polka dot paper from the Heidi Swapp Serendipity line to size, inked all of the edges with Prima Chalk ink in Attic Dust, and adhered it to the wooden frame using a little Modge Podge and a foam brush.  I made sure to give it a good coating and let it dry.
I used my circle punch to create the different layers of the flower and inked those edges with Attic Dust as well and then distressed the edges and layered them, finishing the flower off with a rhinestone in the middle.  For the banners, I took two of the Heidi Swapp Color Pop Banners, and sprayed them with Heidi Swapp Color Shine and then layered them together and adhered them to the frame.  I finished it off by adding the sentiment with some random letter stickers I had in my stash.  It came together pretty quickly, I just had to do a little waiting to let things dry.

More sketchy goodness from Flamingo Scraps!

Good morning Flamingo Flock!

With the end of May approaching, I'm finding myself spending less time in my scrapbook space and more time outside, which I love and hate at the same time. I like to make my pages quick and easy once summer hits, and we all know that sketches are one of my favorite ways to speed up the scrapping process. I made one up, especially for Flamingo Scraps, this month, utilizing a combination of 4x6 and square photos (something like an Instagram photo, if you'd like)! 

So, for my take, I used the actual image I took, in black and white, plus the photo I uploaded to Instagram, as well. I'm really loving how this turned out, what with the Teresa Collins Now & Then Collection to give my page its color combo, the background paper masked and misted with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Tropicana Teal and Sweet Cherry, then masked again with molding paste.  I used some Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Broken China for the larger splatters. My embellishments were a Websters Pages tree charm, a Studio Calico Wood Veneer Banner, a few pieces of Studio Calico Wood Veneers that I got in Sampler Pack 1, and some Maya Road Cording (available in cloud in the store, it can be colored whatever color you'd like to match). I painted the veneers with Tim Holtz Distress Paint (available via special order) in Broken China and Fired Brick, and used some little paper clips to hold my little paper embellishments from the Now & Then Collection in place. 

I just love the bright grunginess of the background. Here's a closer look: 

And I kept the title small, as compared to my sketch, just because I liked the idea of putting it on the banner:

 I love the cover for this album. I've had this paper in my stash for years and have no idea what line it is, but theMaya Road Tu Tu Tulle Trim in Teal, say THAT three times fast, really gives it the feel of fluttery wings. The antennas are actually some Prima SIIC that I "refitted" for this project. The body is some of the same Prima, cut up even more, and some bling from the stash.To make your pattern, you can trace around one of the acrylic pages on a piece of regular white printer paper. Scan it, then use your patterned, or solid, papers in your printer. Print, then cut. Just make sure you trim your paper to fit the printer, and if it comes out on the wrong side, just flip it, reprint then cut.

For the first page, more paper from the stash and the flower is Maya Road Burlap For the antennas I used Maya Road Heart Trinket pins. I just stuck them between the paper and acrylic while the Zip Dry was drying and they've been pretty secure. Unless otherwise specified, the papers used for this were from "the stash".

I am seriously in love with the Maya Road  Tu Tu Tulle in Lemon ! Flamingo scraps also carries the burlap flowers in this color. Loooove it ! The antennas are Maya Road Trinket Pinks Green Flowers swirl in the left bottom corner is Prima SIIC with small cream flowers. For some added sparkle, Stickles around the edges came to the rescue.

Websters Pages Petite Ruffled Trim Gold is used with the tulle and washi tape across the center.The Maya Road Gingham Fabric tape in Ocean would be even BETTER for this. They say hindsight is 20/20 !

 Maya Road lowercase letters,Tu Tu Tulle in Vintage Beige ,borders this page. A Websters Resin Butterfly completes this look.



I had a piece of laser cut paper with butterflies, so I cut one out and backed it with white card stock . The acrylic butterfly is covered with black card stock. I used a gel roller to make "stitches" and put the laser cut butterfly on a piece of black card stock that fit only the bottom half to create a pocket. Stickles make the wings shimmer, and I cut up a piece of Prima SIIP for the black dots.

Tu Tu Pleated Tulle Cinnamon, Maya Road gives a fluttery look to this page that has swirled embossed white card stock  I highlighted with red ink and clear Stickles. The antennas are Maya Road Trinket Pinks Pearls while the clothespin and bling body are from my stash. This would be great for a Valentine book.

The back is flocked card stock.  I love how well the tulle works with this side as well.
  


That's all there is to it. A pretty simple, yet elegant looking mini that makes a great gift. A word of advice. You might want to buy TWO of these beauties because if you make one to give, you'll be certain to wish you had one for yourself !  I bought two and plan on adding to this album.

Birthday Cards From The Flock & HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUZANNE !!!

We interrupt our normally scheduled program to give a big, pink, blinged out, feathery, HAPPY BIRTHDAY wish, to none other than our fearlessLeader of The Flock Suzanne.
 

 

                        

Most people don't realize how busy the "behind the scenes" details of running a successful, and busy store, a blog, and life in general can be. Not to mentionthe fact that she's active in her community, church, and is always there for a friend or family member in need. Suzanne does all these things, and more. I don't know how she finds the time, or energy, but I'm glad she does.

Happy Birthday Suzanne!

For this card, I used a yellow card base, and sprayed one of the FabScraps chipboard shapes with some white Mr. Huey's to give it a base coat and let it dry, and then sprayed with the Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Bronzer. I cut some grass some random scrap paper trim that I had and sprayed it with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Mustard and Tropicana Teal to give it a little shine. I created the banner at the top out of scraps from the Heidi Swapp Serendipity line, and inked the edges around the sentiment and the entire card front with Prima Ink in "Old Road." After piecing together the card, I decided to add   the Prima Light Pink flower accents to give it more of a garden feel.                                                                                                                                              

Next is Cindy de Rosier, our Flamingo Four ( F4) coordinator.

Do you recognize the supplies I used? They're leftovers from the six months I've been the Flamingo Four Coordinator! Here's a rundown:

November F-4: I used the Clam Bake Glimmer Mist to give some color and shine to the paper that holds the sentiment.
December F4: A little grey paint transformed the Maya Road chipboard frame into a resting place for the initial.
January F4: The only item still left from January was the sparkly Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue button. It adds fun shine to the card.
February F4: The base of the card is Heidi Swapp "Vintage Chic" patterned paper. There's a subtle ledger print on the B-side,
which provided nice, straight guidelines for writing my message on the
inside.
March F4: The yellow and striped papers are Pink Paislee's "Indigo Bleu." I love the colors and subtle patterns.
April F4: The S is from Pink Paislee's 'Parisian Anthology' Corrugated Alphabet. This was only the second letter I've used from the package, so expect to see these pop up plenty of times in the future!

I had so much fun challenging myself to use up the leftovers! It was
tempting to skip a month (I'm looking at you, January button...) but
in the end I think the card shows a perfect marriage of Flamingo
Scraps products and my style.

I appreciate Suzanne so much for all the generosity and love she   not only gives to her local community, but also the scrap booking community, and I wanted to reflect some of the love that I have for her and Flamingo Scraps in my card... wanting it to be more than just a birthday card, but a celebration of her and Flamingo Scraps, as well. I used the Teresa Collins Now and Then Collection for the majority of this card, supplementing the design with the Maya Road Instant Photo Frame Singleton Stamp. I folded an inch-and-a-half strip of the Teresa Collins' paper and cut triangles from it to make the banner.

Suzanne, I really hope your birthday is full of wonderful things! You're loved and appreciated by all of us on the Flockinistas. Never forget that!

I love TH products, so for the card I used two sheets of TH Grunge with swirls that I misted with the Maya Road "Maya Mist Metallic Gold", then used Tim Holtz paint "Peeled Paint" over that, and blotted gently. The Fab Scraps Die Cut Cherub is painted with TH "Antique Linen" and "Mustard Seed". Letters from the Maya Road Lisa Lowercase are painted with TH Paints. The yellow trim is Maya Road Burlap Trim "Lemon


Last , but certainly not least, the infamous Tonya Gibbs.
