Getting to Know Cindy and Jill!

Please join us in welcoming our September Design Team -- Cindy and Jill!!   Jill will be here on Tuesdays and Cindy will be here on Thursdays starting next week!!   So we asked them both to answer a few questions so we could all get to know them a little better...

My name is Cindy deRosier and I live in Fairfield, California. I have an MA in Education and taught 4th/5th grade for 11 years. I am currently a stay-at-home mom to Trevor, age 4. When I'm not scrapping or doing other crafts, I like to spend my free time reading, cooking, solving puzzles, or playing board games.

Why do you scrapbook?

I scrapbook both to preserve memories and as a creative outlet.

What is the one scrappy item you just can't live without?

I love all my Fiskars tools and couldn't live without any of them. As for consumables, my favorite product is "Chestnut Roan" fluid chalk ink by ColorBox. I use it on almost every project I do.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Do you like your handwriting and do you use it on your layouts?

I love my handwriting! I hand write on almost all my layouts because I find it faster and easier than printing something from the computer. I also like the personal touch that it gives my layouts.

What is your favorite item in the Flamingo Scraps store today?

The Maya Road Mini Chipboard Alphabet "Noah" set is adorable. Working with raw chipboard is so much fun since there are so many different things you can do with it.

My name is Jill Sarginson and I live in Ottawa, ON with my husband Dean and daughter Abigail. I have been scrapbooking for almost 3 years and I am completely in love with the hobby! In addition to scrapping, I spend the majority of my time playing soccer and spending time with my family.

Why do you scrapbook?

I scrapbook primarily to preserve my family's memories. For the most part, I tend to scrap daily activities but definitely want to get those events/vacations scrapped as well. I've always loved arts and crafts so I absolutely do it for the creative aspect of it as well.

What is the one scrappy item you just can't live without?

My paper trimmer. It's old and cuts really rough but it reduces my scrapping time drastically. Other tools that I use on almost all layouts are my edge distresser (or scissors), ink and circle cutters.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Lime. And then I decided to wikipedia the Crayola colour list. Wow - lots to pick from. I really like the Alien Armpit colour too!

Do you like your handwriting and do you use it on your layouts?

I love my handwriting. And a neat little fact about me is I can copy anyone's handwriting so basically if I don't like it, I just change it up! In grade school, I got in trouble and had to write lines so I copied a class mates handwriting and left it on the teacher's desk. I had to re-do them because my teacher didn't believe that I wrote it. This came in handy when I had to bring notes from home in high school! ;)

What is your favorite item in the Flamingo Scraps store today?

This is a tough question! I LOVE the gorgeous products that Flamingo Scraps carries - in particular the Webster's and Prima pattern papers. In terms of my style though and what I tend to use, I would have to go with the Pink Paislee items. Their alphas are my all-time favourite! And I love their papers and trims!
