So for our 5th anniversary this year, I gave his this quilt:
I bought this beautiful handmade Amish quilt on my trip to Pennsylvania to visit my brother and sister-in-law earlier this year. Here's some close-up shots of the hand appliqued details:
The only machine work on the quilt was to piece together the background white squares. :)
And I make the occasional quilt.... this one I made last month for my niece!
So what does this have to do with scrapbooking? For me... lots! I love to add stitching to my layouts with my sewing machine. Like this layout I did several years ago:
See all the sewing details along the edges of the papers? Totally quilty looking in person! And then I like to use the patchwork quilt look every once in a while like here:
So I have a whole set of quilt blogs I follow for inspiration. Here are a few of my favorites:
Oh, Fransson! (love the sew alongs -- she's so quick too!)
Film in the Fridge (one of my recent favorites -- she has a knack for picking out fabulous fabrics!)
Craftastical (check out this hexagon quilt... amazing!)
I was inspired by that hexagon quilt to make this card:
From Flamingo Scraps: Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage patterned papers
Other supplies: American Crafts cardstock; sewing machine + thread
Of course, it took a different turn and ended up an entirely new pattern!! But I love how it turned out. Have you ever found inspiration in quilts for scrapbooking? Or do you have any quilt blogs you think I should add to my blog reader?! :)
I love to stitch on my pages too Amanda but I don't follow and quilt blogs.
