Alice's Memory Box

Good Morning, Donna with you today sharing a memory box with Marion Smith's Mad Tea Party collection. This was made from the larger 12 x 12 papers, but all papers measure 6" or less, so the 6 x 6 pad will work perfectly! I have always loved all the quotes from Alice in Wonderland, so I decided to create a place to keep "All things Alice". I started with a plain chipboard photo box, cutting the patterned paper leaving a 1/4" border of the chip board box. I added paper to all sides, including the inside and bottom. I used Ranger's Glue and Seal to adhere, then painted the edges of the paper to blend into the box. When dry, I added a second layer of Glue and Seal over the paint and papers to seal and protect them. From the clip art sheet I cut out the "drink me" bottle, backed it with black cardstock and adhered it to the front with Claudine Hellmuth's multi medium. It was just the right size to allow the top to close.

When closed I cut out a second bottle, again backing with black cardstock, added a little Black Soot Distress paint and using Ranger Glossy Accents across the surface for the appearance of glass. Before adhering this bottle to the outside flap, I tied a piece of red dyed seam binding ribbon to the bottle. The bottle and the Tim Holtz mini locket were adhered with multi medium. The mini key, with the same seam binding was tied to the key and placed over the inside edge of the box. On the bottom of the box I added Tim Holtz box foot corners with E6000 adhesive.

For the top of the box, I adhered a Prima Say it in Crystals flourish, extending it down onto the front of the flap. I used Glue and Seal over this piece to add extra strength to the adhesive, but had to scrape off the glue from each crystal, as it gave it a matte finish. Alpha stickers from my stash were adhered, layered with Glossy Accents and sprinkled with Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter, a few roses sprayed with red Glimmer Mist were also added to the corner.

I think the Mad Hatter's Hat is my favorite addition to the box, cut from a pattern found on the internet (two sizes, this is the smaller size), using the Mad Tea Party papers to make the layers adhered to thin chipboard. This was also sealed with Glue and Seal for extra stability. Adding a few fibers around the base, adding a bit of glue to keep from untying.

Here is a side view of the layered bottle, which will lift open when the flap is lifted, revealing the bottom layer in full when opened. (shown in first photo above). I look forward to filling my box with tags from the cut out sheet in the collection, and my favorite quotes from the book and movies.

Thanks for looking & scrappy smiles! Donna Sullivan
