Guest Blogger Kia: Cool Challenge # 4

I can't believe how fast the Flamingo Scraps version of Scraptathlon has gone!  This is our last challenge so I wanted to make it one to remember.  If you missed the original post describing this challenge, here's a link.

Cool Challenge #4 ~ Steam - Peter Gabriel.
The hottest trend to come out of CHA has got to be Steampunk!  Your challenge this week is to find a way to meld the past with the future in a LO. As Steampunk melds the Victorian era with science fiction, what can you find from the past that meshes with your future?

Required Item:
This week's required item is Metal.  You must use something metallic in your Layout.

Here's a sample layout from Amanda:

A note from Amanda:  I'm not sure how "steampunk" this really is now that it's finished... but it is an old layout, using a key and a little vintage looking right?!  This photo is of my grandparents and my thoughts about the photo.
From Flamingo Scraps:  Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante patterned papers, Prima white flower and Say it in Crystals with Flowers bling.
Other supplies used: American Crafts grey thickers and presicion pen, Martha Stewart ribbon loop punch and Making Memories metal heart, key and word "love"

All Layouts must be uploaded to the Flamingo Scraps blog(using Mr. Linky) or Facebook page no later than 8pm EDT on August 29, 2010* to be eligible.

On sale this week at Flamingo Scraps ......Selected Graphic 45 tags, frames and borders for Steampunk Debutante and Hallowe'en in Wonderland, also Steampunk/Vintage Embellishment Grab Bags and brand new from Summer CHA - Vintage Embellishments from Prima!

*Edited to correct the deadline

  1. I think you made a mistake in the date this is due by. Other than that, sounds like a fabulous challenge!

  2. Love the layout Amanda. Simply love the cluster of bling and metal!

  3. I think I need do some more research into Steampunk since I don't know the ins and outs of it.
Your journaling makes me cry too. Wish my grandparents were still around also.

  4. CORRECTION! THE DUE DATE ON THIS CHALLENGE IS AUGUST 29, 2010. Thanks Celina for catching this!

  5. Janet - stay tuned for Suzanne's blog all about Steampunk later this week.

  6. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I love love love love that lo!!!! Great challenge! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

  7. fab LO!!! neat concept to add metal...

  8. Already Thursday and I cannot come up with an idea for this! Aagh! I have ideas to blend the past with the present, but I just can't work the future in. I'll keep thinking. :)

  9. I completed the challenge! My LO is definitely NOT steampunk, but I did combine the past and future and worked in some metal. This was a real challenge for me, but I'm happy with the result.

  10. I just went back and checked my link- the first one wasn't working, so I linked it again and now it works. I don't see a way to remove the first one. Sorry about that!
