Meet the Flamingo Scaps Design Team!!!!!

Flamingo Scraps is so pleased and proud to announce our new Design Team!!!  We are so very sorry to bid adieu to three DT members -- Cindy DeRosier, Alicia Flick and Abigail Stoops -- all of whom are moving on to other crafty and family endeavors.   We do have 4 new (almost) fresh faces and  5 continuing designers who have new fresh titles & duties!!!  So, without further ado, the  2013-2014 Flamingo Scraps Design Team!!!!!

Tonya Gibbs - Lead Educator

Tonya is also known as Psychomom - for all the right reasons!  A Florida Native, she hails from Keystone Heights; she is married and has two children, who, along with her neices and nephews are the frequent subjects of her scrapping.  Innovative techniques and inspired details are the hallmark of Tonya's style.  She has been designing for Flamingo Scraps for three years and for a year has been broadcasting live Ustream shows sponsored by Flamingo Scraps.  Tonya is also a member of Marion Smith Designs Design Team!!

Kathleen Natale -- Flamingo 4 Coordinator

Kathleen Natale previously served as the Design Team Coordinator, but is now in charge of our popular monthly feature Flamingo 4!  She is a native of Palatka, FL and lives just up the road from Suzanne.  Kathleen is a wife, mother, avid fur-parent, and Gammy to the lights of her life, grandsons  Gabriel 7 and brand new baby Ethan!  In this capacity, she will be contributing on a regular basis to the blog and we know her lively personality and beautiful crafting style will shine through.

Erin Reed -- Design Team Coordinator

Erin Reed is a stay at home mom (my children give me wonderful pictures to scrap with), a former high school science teacher, and she loves to scrapbook!!  Her first love is family - they mean everything - her second love is crafting, especially scrapbooking.  Erin started scrapping in 2006 when her oldest child was 10 months old.  But she really fell in love with the craft when it became her emotional release during a painful time in her life.  In her new role as DT Coordinator, Erin will be coordinating all aspects of the Design Team.

Melissa Williams -- Blog Coordinator

Melissa Williams is a mother of 2 boys living in Michigan. She is an all-around crafty-type person, and loves, REALLY loves, color.  She is especially drawn to primaries, turquoise, and pink. She puts all of this into her designs and loves to try new things, so her style is always evolving.  Melissa really likes using techniques on her pages - from sewing to painting to inking and grunging it up.  Melissa says,  "My designs are fairly uncomplicated - I try not to put too much on a page so that the focus still rests with my photos, yet I try to add small touches to give my pages interest. But, that's pretty much what I try to be: uncomplicated, bold, and dynamic." Melissa's new duties include reviewing, editing and scheduling blog posts.

Ramona Downing -- Social Media Coordinator

Ramona Downing loves scrapbooking and mixed media!!  She loves making old memories new, from pictures of her family’s heritage to new pictures taken.  Right now, she is into Mini Books and altered items and  loves using Prima and Graphic 45.   Ramona is always up for new crafting adventures at retreats and classes.  Ramona says, "I love watching new papercrafting tutorials  on Youtube and Ustream.  I want to share with Flamingo's friends and customers what I have learned by watching YouTube and Ustream."  Ramona is in charge of maintaining Facebook, Pinterest, and other social media outlets.

Design Team Members

Flamingo Scraps was so very fortunate to have four Guest Designers for our Christmas in July Blog features, and we are thrilled to welcome them as full time designers!!

Luann Ostrom

Hi my name is Luann Ostrom.  I live in Seabrook, TX (near Galveston) with my wonderful and supportive husband (Carl) and our dog babies – Maisie Grace, Torrie Belle, and Teager Woods.  I was brought up in Southern Illinois to journey to Texas via St. Louis, MO and Atlanta, GA. The last 4 years we have been full time caregivers for my mom and dad.  I have to say that I really love being able to be with my parents.  I have been crafting all my life.  I like to say that I grew up during the “using your imagination” era and thanks to my mom for inspiring me to use my talents, as she did hers.   I enjoy working with all types of media.  I have tried my hand in just about everything that has to do with crafts.  I love to make cards, tags, and projects for family and friends.  This will be my first adventure as a guest designer.  Hope you enjoy my imagination.

 Genie Smith

I have always been drawn to creative pursuits, it just took me a while to find my outlet. I sew, needlepoint, and draw. I also enjoy cooking and baking. I have dabbled in scrapbooking since high school by adding memorabilia to my pictures, but something was still missing.
I found modern scrapbooking after our first daughter was born and I have not looked back. I really do hope that someday, my children look at my scrapbooks and really get who I am and how much I love them. Within the last few years, I've been introduced to mixed media and well, the world will never be the same.
My husband of 12 years and I have two sweet little girls, aged 9 and 3. They are funny, sassy, sometimes naughty, silly, gorgeous, loving, bright, often cheerful, diva-esque little princesses, and they are the lights of my life. I am lucky to be married to my best friend; I swear, I love him more every day. In real life, I am a portrait and wedding photographer, but my true loves are all at home.

Cheryl Arbo

I am married to my best friend for thirty-six years. We have two daughters, two precious Grand girls that call me Gamma, and we yell “Roll Tide” every Saturday during the college football season.  I have been scrapbooking around fifteen years. Around three years ago I made the expensive mistake of catching Jennifer McGuire on YouTube making a few cards and I was hooked. It was at that point that I realized I liked my cardstock, inks, and ribbons all to color coordinate. I also had to have all of the pretty stamps and dies to make those pretty cards. I still have a deep love for scrapbooking, but as the years have passed by, I have realized our journaling is more important than the pictures. I am a little bit Yankee, a lot Southern, and since last September, living in the Wild West of  Fort Worth Texas.

Donna Jaked-Sullivan

Donna is a long time Flamingo Friend!  She and Tonya and I took a class from Marion Smith together and cemented our online friendships!!  Donna is just getting back into papercrafting after a long illness and we are so excited she is doing it with us!  I know you will all love seeing her projects!  Donna and hubby Tim are in the process of moving back to Florida -- I think they had to have one moving truck just for her craft room!!
Welcome to all these FABULOUS ladies!!!  Flamingo Scraps is so fortunate to have attracted this incredible group of talented and FUN paper crafters!!!!  I have a feeling the next 6 months are going to be a wild ride!!!!!

Slowly getting back on track in the sunny state of FL, thanks for the nice write up Suzanne! (It took an entire day just to load my craft room, and all our furniture did not make it back with us, something had to give!)
